- Working with so many Landcruisers in my life daily sometimes can get repetitive and honestly, I needed a little reprieve. So, one afternoon when this Willy 1962 CJ5 was suggested I try to get going again I jumped on it. This is a new platform and is something ive wanted to start working on ever since I saw my first one as a kid. Can we get this one going to help complete a childhood dream? Find out!

You should see about snagging that Bantam trailer that was next to it if they're going to scrap all that stuff. It's a fairly collectable unit itself.

Just found your channel. Love it! I have rescued five of these American Icons since 1961, when I found a repossessed 1946 CJ2A sitting behind the Citizens' Bank in Aztec, NM. I was 15. It was my first car. And as you said in your opening, I hugely regret ever selling it. But I just had to have that 1955 Chevrolet Belair, Two-Door Hardtop in pristine condition... My second Jeep was a 1965 CJ5. So I'm really liking this project. But before you do anything else, SNAG THAT TRAILER! It could be worth more than the CJ5!
I just found your channel, I love the CJ you are saving from destruction!!!! I was born in 62 so it caught my eye when I was strolling for videos. I've watched all of the jeep videos, now I need more so keep up with the 62 and get some original wheels and tires on that that bad boy!!!!! I love the rust and simplicity of it.

At the beginning I took one look at that pile and thought not a chance. But you did it. So cool. YES! Absolutely want to see more videos on the Jeep.

I would leave the Jeep the way it looks now. Just clean up the interior and get the engine all proper and such.

Special thanks to you and all involved in the resurrection and successful extraction of this Jeep . No doubt , you’ve got to do whatever you can to keep this Jeep alive . It fired up with a decent amount of work and is absolutely a runner . It deserves to live . As rough as it appears , would like to see how intact it’s chassis and body is . The side panel on the drivers side has a glacier of a crack which needs welding but wondering how is the floors . We got a bit of a glimpse and the bed looked like it’s still there ? Front floor too ? You guys got my attention with this Jeep , please make us proud . Hope you can flush out the transmission but water sitting in it is a heart breaker . Still got my faith in it . It deserves to live . Wishing you the best with it .
I’m going to do whatever it takes to get it to a good runner and driver.

I also got a “if you get it out of the woods, you can have it” CJ. Mine is a 56, same color, but the motor is stuck and the stuff that I blew out of the cylinders looked worse than your transmission, but I’m scheming a motor swap anyway. Subscribed, I’m interested to compare notes.

My buddy had a 48 willys on hiway tires and we couldn't get it stuck if we tried.(and we did) and it had the original flat head 4.
My very first vehicle was a 1966 CJ5 with the 225 V6. That thing was fun and good off road but was neither reliable nor rugged. And, quite frankly, the biggest piece of junk I've ever owned. So glad I don't own that thing anymore. The steering, brakes and clutch mechanism were the same as the Willys MB military jeeps. You would think they would have upgraded after all those years that but nope! same old junk. I broke axle shafts, motor mounts, tranny and transfer box mounts, clutch rods all the time, cracked the frame in many places, always behind the front shackle mounts it's been so long I can't remember all the things that went wrong with that machine. Only thing that ever left me stranded. However, with that being said, they are kinda cool machines.
And then, I discovered Toyotas and never looked back.
yeah heard tho V6s aren't at reliable as the f-head 4s. but im new to the whole platform so I cant really give a real truth on it.

Мир всем. Привет из России. Сам я живу в Карелии это рядом с Финской границей и как понимаешь дороги здесь плохие . У самого у меня легендарная машина UAZ Buhanka это Русский джип.Про джип Виллис много смотрел видео и читал про него . Только ходят слухи что из начально на нем стоял Японский двигатель от Мицубиши правда это или нет я точно не знаю. Знаю точно что даже в таком состоянии ваш джип в России стоит больших денег.
