    How to tune The Anvil:
    Find the right object to beat it with.
    Crescent wrenches (used here) conveniently come as sets that progressively scale up in mass, just find the one that sings B when struck on your specific anvil.
    Also, hitting different points on an anvil changes the resulting ring.

    The tractor is American, the bib overalls could have been made in Oshkosh Wisconsin. The banjo, mandolin and drums all could have been from America and these guys would look right at home playing at the Grand Ole Opry. Even Dolly Parton would book them at her amusement park in Tennessee. Who would have thought they are not an American band from the U.S.A.

    • @onsesejoo2605
      @onsesejoo2605 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      That brand is international. Those type of tractors in Finland are British made and it has a strong reputation in that country. That 165 is an archaetypical one since it was their most popular model there back in the 70's. :) American made are a rarity.

    This is fabulous! Thank God for youtube. How else could we hear a bluegrass band from Finland playing Thunderstruck & other heavy metal classics on acoustic banjo, acoustic accordion, stand up bass & most important an acoustic anvil? How can a serious musician in the 21st century expect to sell multi-platinum albums without overdrive, distortion, fuzz & wah-wah pedals for his or her anvil? The only thing that Steve'n'Seagulls can offer is great musical skills & vocals & an incredible sense of humor.

    They blew me away the first time I heard this a few months ago. I think the accordion, anvil & the spoons were the icing on the cake for this one. Might I suggest that you take a listen to 2cellos "Thunderstruck" official video. You can tell from the video that there was layering done in studio, but you get the gist of these guys masterful playing of their instruments. They have a large catalog of songs they have covered, I think you would enjoy any one of them. There are also live videos and my favorite is 2cellos "Whole Lotta Love" [live Zagreb, Croatia] The sounds they have coming out of their cellos are totally awesome. Thanks, Phil!

    First time hearing Steve'n'Seagulls! I get a jug/skittle band feel to this with bluegrass thrown in. I like the live jam session going on here. great analysis and homework on these guys. thanks Fil.

    Blue Grass was very popular in the 80's, not my favorite genre, but these guys were good! Hey Filip, congrats @ 116 subs! Don't forget us little ppl that were there in the beginning, especially me, MUAH!

    The anvil will make a different sound depending what you use to hit it. A smaller, lighter wrench or a big hammer will sound different. Great video as always.

    Fil, great choice! I always love the energy and tightness of this performance. The drummer playing on a cocktail kit is neat too because his standing and bopping contributes to the frenetic feel. Thanks for the great analysis, Fil!
