Awesome, it is great that you did it. Well, that is cad, you hit a wall, then you find the solution and then you'll never forget how to do it. I'm glad for you and thanks for sharing your experience with everyone. Regards
Yes, I reset the edge option by selecting "extend" option. I might set it to "not extend" by accident before. Its like a magic. I spent almost one hour to solve this problem, but the answer is just one command. I am so happy now!
I just went through all tutorial series and it is explicitly clear and there is no room for doubt. From my point view it is clear as crystal. I would encourage to CAD beginner as I have learnt those skill/techniques hard way flipping through books and applying them is time consuming. now it is video format.
Dave jiks Thank you for your kind words and for the encouragement. I tried my best to put it as simple as possible although is not always easy. Hopefully it will help others to get a good grasp of these key concepts in AutoCad. Thanks again and all my best.
Thank you!!! you are the best I was having the same problem with extend, I'm following your tutorials step by step they are really helpful and enjoyable, thank you!!
Excellent point and thanks for the input. By default it should extend, but as you can see below in another comment, if you override it by mistake it won't do it. In fact, most commands are predetermined to act in a certain way and when this doesn't happen, normally is because it got overridden by mistake (or on demand in few cases) and set it to behave doing the opposite or sometimes nothing as is the case with this one. Thanks again and feel free to ask if you need some help. Best regards
My pleasure, make sure to look all the others and I will really appreciate your input. If any questions or concerns make sure to post it. My best regards
after selecting the two lines and hit enter, you need to select the "objects to extend", you can select it one by one or in one shot using a crossing window (as is in the video) and they "have to" extend up to the place you indicate; that's the default. If you are doing it like this and is not working, it should be fixed by: select command extend; select objects, now type the "edge" option or "e"; then select "extend" option, finally select the objects again. that should bring it back to normal.
you are really nice guy and you explain everything very well, i have learnt more from you then from my teacher in autocad. but sometimes i get bored and it is really hard for me to click on the next video. i wish learning autocad was not boring :(
futurenika I have to agree with you 100% lol. Believe me, I'm trying to come up with an interesting Idea on how to make the learning AutoCAD process much more interesting but is hard! Try our new series in AutoCAD 2015, here the first video to see if you like it, all the best th-cam.com/video/vL-X3sidKsA/w-d-xo.html
Great for you. How you did it?, Did you use the "edge" option of the command? Normally it should be set to extend by default by if you set it to "not extend" ( even if by accident) then you need to put it back to normal. Again let us know how it worked for you. My best regards.
Hi great work. I learned lot of things from this these tutorials as I am new learner. All the lessons are architecture based. sir it would be helpful if you add some mechanical based lessons.
Thanks for share your opinion, the last part of this project is 3D as it is explained in the video. I'll do my best to upload more frequently. Best regards
Hi Great work. I have been following your tutorials from the #1. Very nice. Thank you. BTW I had a problem with following this tutorial and solved myself after 20 mins struggling. It is about "Extend" function. I found that one has to set up "Edge" as extend. Otherwise extension to imaginary extended target line will not work. I just want to share this. Thank you
I'm sorry to be asking again.. it's my fourth easycad4you tutorial of this day, lol. Cannot thank you enough for making this series and to replying all of my questions I have one problem regarding this very tutorial.. it's on 7:40, where you used the extend command on two perpendicular lines in which they act both as the limiting edges and as the extended objects itself. I've done the same procedure as you have in your video (extend -> selecting both of the lines -> right-click -> selecting both of them again), but the command keeps sending error message saying 'Object does not intersect an edge'. How do I solve this problem? Thanks in advance.
when doing the commands of extend at 7:40, I cant get two lines connected to each other. I clicked extend button, and selected two lines and hit enter, then selected two lines again, the dotted lines just beame solid lines and two lines didnt connect to each other
Please guide utilities units.... I have option architecture then inches not feet.... But I can't draw 26 feet polyline. How can I go for the settings. Thanks
thank you for that very helpful tutorial, but I have to ask something. whenever I try to make two lines intersect using the extend command like what you did at 7:40 it gives me a message saying that 'object does not intersect at an edge'
Hello, First of all the entire perimeter is composed of several plines, not individual lines. In that case the whole thing is considered 1 object and can be offset easily. Just make sure you use pline to create it instead of line command. Hope this tackles your question. Please post back if you need further clarification and best regards
That's a good point and thanks for mentioning it. The Edge option should be set to "extend" by default but in case something happen like what hpplayer3 mentioned in the thread before it would have been good to have it noted in the video. I'll make sure to not skip it for future projects. Thanks again and all the best.
Hello, The plan is fully dimensioned considering is for viewing withing TH-cam. Maybe you mean adding something else like additional dimensions? Please let me know and I'll look into it. Regards
Really good explaining, I am new to Autocad, But I can catch your lessons, thanks for your Good effort! Can I contact you on skype, I want to personal help to quick learning, thank you
Hello, Thanks a lot for you offer, I really appreciate your help. My email is easycad4you@gmail.com. For sure I'll use them to replace the existing ones since this is one of the problems I've been trying to fix. My best regards,
Jihad Thaj Thanks for your point and honestly some people are having that issue you mention. what really controls whether it does it or not is the edgemode variable which could be set to 0 or 1. By default, autocad should have the edge option set to "extend", however if by any chance is not doing it, we have to change the edgemode variable, which we do they way you mentioned: (selecting Edge option and then extend). I'll make sure to add that in future videos. Thanks again and all the best

This is really great. Thanks easycad4u
Chimezie Victor Not a problem, you are very welcome.
nice tutorial

will you upload more tutorial sir or no?
how you to use offset command for the initial whole body? i can use offset for a particular line but not for the whole at the same time. help me out.

You forgot to mention the edge option once using the extend command at around 7:35
That's a good point and thanks for mentioning it. great tutorials, but if only you used SI system not inches it would help alot more :/
Is it possible to maybe post the full dimensions of this specific plan
Hello,
The plan is fully dimensioned considering is for viewing withing TH-cam. Maybe you mean adding something else like additional dimensions? Please let me know and I'll look into it.

easycad4you Never mind I found what I was looking for in one of your other tutorials..thanks

No problem, make sure to ask if you happen to have questions or concerns.

I don't know why the extend by me isn't work 'like ur
