We took the left trail up and I chickened out on the very narrow ledge with straight drop off. I was so sad that I got so close but couldn’t finish the hike. Thanks for your footage!
Good stuff. So much effort in carring film gear and all the editing. I remember my early days of "i will be youtube star...." Then be like, i got other things to do besides editing 😄. Good stuff
ya I'm getting close to giving up, I just found a Hiking / RV channel that shoots their videos on what looks like an old iphone 6 with just raw clips, no real editing, drone, storying, nothing that gets 3x more views than me.
I"m glad. Id suggest if you can, camp up there then you can bag a peak or two near ice lake on the morning of day 2. Definitely doable as a day hike especially without losing your phone half way down the mountain and without 15 lbs of camera gear lol.
For sure. We don't have scree cliffs or steep scree slopes on Vancouver Island so I was just not prepared to see a steep slope with a drop off all scree. I'll be back there one day.
I totally relate to the loss of your phone as it is so needed when hiking for navigation! I dropped mine last summer on Rogers Ridge on mount lupin. Fortunately, found it. I recommend a lanyard… Nite Ize from London drugs for 10$ (my friend just bought one yesterday). Then you can put it around your neck or wrap it around your backpack strap and stick it in the top pocket of your shirt to look at regularly for navigation but if you lean forward or slip, it will always be attached to you.😅. It can also be quickly released from the strap if you need to stretch it forward for a photo etc. and easily clipped back on.
thats a good idea, I was more worried about driving navigation. I was doing a road trip from Vancouver to Alabama and back. That would be impossible to do that without my phone. I ended up sticking with the "everything in a zippered pocket" strategy and have lost nothing since.
Just did these hikes a few weeks ago and was able to take some drone footage as well. Really enjoyed the perspective and angels you shot with yours, the area is absolutely epic for sure.
5:57 yea man. Been there. couldn’t imagine wearing a jacket or pants without zippers on a hike. When you live in CO it becomes part of the wardrobe. Glad you found it!
The pants and cheap crappy pants so they don't have much insulation thus dont need to be vented. It was freezing in spots so i just tossed on the puff to get some extra warmth, my jacket is ventilated though.
I made the mistake of day hiking it. Wish I had camped then I could have bagged 3 or 4 peaks the next morning right near ice lake. I just slept in my CRV at the visitor center in Silverton. There is a garbage can there, outhouse and an electrical outlet on the side of the building.
Is that the 3D version of All Trails, or what app is that?? And how did you get it Landscape for your video?? Any info would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
Seems this fellow has a lot of anxiety. Great video by the way. Maybe to alleviate his anxiety, he should hike with others. Its safer and you have someone else to help if things go south.
I have read Sneffels is a little intense for beginners. Watch videos on it before to see if its something you are up to. I hear Handies is good for beginners and is also in the beautiful San Juans. @@Jeremy-bh5cm
Great hike and nice drone shots. But I hope you realize that you need your part 107 license to post your videos on TH-cam, if you are using your drone footage. If you don't have your part 107 license. You are breaking the FAA rules. If you don't stop you could get a hefty fine. You may ask why? Well. The FAA states that you can fly your drone with out a part 107 license if you are only flying for fun. But if your making money flying your drone, ( like using it on a TH-cam channel) or trying to make money or even donating your time flying your drone. You HAVE to have part 107 license. Please a do the right thing and get your part 107 license. If you want to use your drones footage in your videos.
Kinda looked like the woman photographing flowers was kneeling on other flowers to get the perfect photo...this place looks very stepped on when you get there. Maybe we all just need to stay on trail.
Please, please, keep your drone away from such places - they are special, and as nice as the footage is, it's a distraction from simply being present in such a place.
I'm a wilderness filmmaker, that's like telling an artist to stop using paint or a musician to stop playing an instrument. I understand what you are getting at but documenting my adventures is where I get the most fulfilment from nature.
@@IdRatherBeHiking Really appreciate the thoughtful response - I am projecting a bit because when we were there a drone was flying about - just took away from the serene nature of the place. But I guess, so was my mere presence.
@@jeffrochford2183I understand that, I almost always never fly near people and when I do put the bird up I'm quick to get the exact shots I need then bring it down. Technically the newer drones can stay airborne for 45 minutes per battery. Come armed with 6 or so batteries and one could be flying for hours. I keep my flights to minutes which is not only better as a filmmaker to be intentional but its respectful to others. Unfortunately there are bozos who fly buzzing over peoples heads and are not intentional so I get the annoyance with them.
Great video! What a place!

I am so glad you knew your limits so relived that’s attractive that your reasonable.
My legs tell me every time heh. I did climb up on that rock and took a few steps then almost collapsed like a baby giraffe then turned around.
Phenomenal hike, extraordinary video; thanks for posting
Spectacular work bud! This looks and feels absolutely amazing! Epic work my friend! Brilliant piece of content!
Cheers dude

Well done friend. Grateful to watch your adventures.
Thank You for sharing this Video, now a have a new hike for my bucket list 🙂
100% this hike is EPIC
The lake was so beautiful!
TY for his video!! Doing the hike just to island and ice lake in August and your video really helped me know what to expect

I love that you honestly said you knew your limits. Thank you. Looking to do the not so scary part as part of a honeymoon trip...maybe.
Just did this today, didn’t know you can go up all they way up the peak. Epic hike. I feel your pain, my knees are shot now but worth it.
ya that's a knee buster for sure but so incredible
Nice video mate, looks like a stunning place, always gotta know when to turn back that’s what keeps mountaineering safe for all 👍👊

Awesome hike fail video man, no kidding that was a great watch! Keep up the good work, I really enjoy your videos! 👍🏻💥💪🏻🙏🏻💯😃
Great video you have inspired me to go here

Howdy Happy Birthday love your videos
cheers
Doing this hike next week, a bit nervous for that sketchy section though.
you'll be fine one step at a time and avoid doing jumping jacks and backflips
really enjoyed this video. A place i've always wanted to get to. Did you camp or stay someplace in Silverton?

Columbine Lake around the corner is even prettier if you can believe it.
it was on the list but the rain kept me from doing that one

that's fatmap + obs

Its easier said than done, hard to find others to hike with also this was a solo road trip so it was all solo. 50 hikes, 33 summits all solo.
@@IdRatherBeHikingseems like an outdoor thing. Also hard to find someone to go fishing with here in the Florida Keys! Love your work.
I went there on last weekend on labor weekend with my dji mini 2 but I have no signal. Could get any shot. How do u do yours with no signal
I used an air2s which has much better signal than the mini 2
Can you suggest any beginners summits to hike in Colorado?
Mount Sneffels looks pretty good
Ok thank you

I just turned 38 on the 29th
