She was in her prime here, what a beautiful woman with a beautiful voice. I am just now starting to dig her music 🎶 When l was younger l just ignored her but now after seeing and hearing her body of work I realize she was magnificent.
Pancho Villa I was a casual fan of Ms. Ronstadt in my youth-had her greatest hits and Nelson Riddle albums and loved hearing her blaring beautifully on my radio. So wish I had been a rabid one and had availed myself to see her live; she was in my backyard dozens and dozens of times. My interest in her was renewed when I saw the documentary about her in September, 2019, read her memoir and watched her receive the Kennedy Center Honor in December. Grab her memoir and she'll take you on quite the musical journey; I would TH-cam performers/performances as she mentioned them. Love this interview. As you said, she was in her prime in every sense of the word. She turned 40 that July and as she has frequently said, between the ages of 40 and 50 she felt the most free and accomplished as a singer. Every possible musical tool within her grasp was now in her toolkit. She also adopted her first child when she was 40, so I think both her personal and professional life were in sync and bringing her much contentment. Johnny Carson spoke for many of us when he said he was an unabashed fan of Ms. Ronstadt as a singer.
Johnny Carson, thank God, did not patronize her, or talk about how "controversial" she was....but so respectful he was. I'm glad he said he was an unabashed fan!
Back in a time when women knew they were a woman and Conducted themselves as such . Long before the depravity of the mind to its place . I am so grateful. for growing up in the days of Linda Ronstadt and Johnny Carson
but, ironically, she was a part of a lib push in the country that undermined the things you (and I) appreciate...and, sadly, she suffered from, as did millions of females (and males indirectly). That feminism has achieved total victory in the west and has now morphed into another level down of chaos: gender bending +notice feminists don't fight that).
Mr. Kuszel, I am sorry, but that is an ignorant remark. You do not understand, that Mexico is a great nation, with a fantastically complex and rich culture. What you also do not understand, is that people don't "resort" to being what they are. Ms. Ronstadt is proudly Mexican-American. And it wouldn't matter if she were proudly Danish-American, or proudly Senegalese-American, etc. Any culture can be a source of pride and joy.
She did it because she wanted to and yet, she sold 10 millions of those albums. She´s Mexican American, but obviously, a bit more American, since she grew up there and her mom is American.
What is it with US Americans that they focus on one bit of person’s genetic origins? Linda Ronstadt’s heritage is German, English, Mexican, Dutch. The surname Ronstadt is most certainly German but she seems to get described as Mexican more than anything else. Her g. Grandmother was Mexican but we all have FOUR g. Grandmothers.....what were the others? She was born and brought up in the USA as were both her parents. Why does she get described as Mexican rather than as having some Mexican antecedents (along with others)?
I’ve never seen Johnny , so sincerely fond and complementary with a guest. It’s clear that he really was a fan.
She lives in the present, knows the future but has a great appreciation for the past.
She has such a great laugh, as well as the greatest voice.
Gorgeous important pipes and a mind of her own. Adorable and authentic.
Linda is absolutely AWESOME!!!
I was always mesmerized by her album covers. Her eyes were hypnotic.
Yes indeed, her eyes were as clear and bright as her voice was. What an absolutely incredible woman, one of God's finest creations ever.
She was in her prime here, what a beautiful woman with a beautiful voice.

Pancho Villa I have been fortunate to have been a fan for 35 years and am glad you are now too.
@Manuel Diggs
I will always keep listening to all her work, she is an angel 😇

Agreed! This woman had it all and the only one who could ever bring me to tears just by singing.
Not her prime. She was still relevant here but definitely not her prime. Her prime was 1975-1980.
Glorious pipes and an authentic pure Dame.
The best female singer in 70 year lifetime. She can sing anything.
I miss Carson. He was the best at interviewing his guests!
Love this it has her smiling and laughing. The conversation is light and playful.

Linda. My favorite of the last century
Bless Lovely Linda 😍
My idol since the 80's

One amazing talent.
I loved the album she did with Nelson Riddle ❤️
Hello from. Tucson. 2021
Lovely lady.
Americain girl xo
@2:42
*Johnny is CRAZY* aha 😁
Shes Mexican
And German. At least half, possibly 3/4.
Linda back then looked like the black dahlia.
Great singer, bad hair day
Thats just the way she wanted it so your opinion does not count!
It was the 80s.
American?? I thought she was Mexican. I guess she still had a music career back in 86 she didn't have to resort to in a Mexican American

Resort to being mexican American? That's a low class remark.

It's amazing that someone this stupid and ignorant would actually want to show it off to the world.
