That’s funny, if you watch, “A Year and A Half In The Life of Metallica” Jason is shown playing a fretless bass for Nothing, I think it’s even on the music video.
It’s not confirmed that he was using a fretless, correct me if I’m wrong but I think he was also using a normal 4 string in the video. I’m pretty sure he was just experimenting with it on the track.
