The 601 series 3 replica are all over in asia . and they sound almost the same with the original ! they sell for around $100 usd . the 601 are so easy to replicate .
The thiels 1.5 sounded fantastic, the bass was really very bit very good, the bass didn’t go as low as my heco the statement but nicer. Of you have a room with carpet floor the thiel’s bass is more than enough but I have a tile floor and a tile floor absorb bass and that’s why they where not suitable for my room. If I would have a carpet floor I would still have them as my main speakers. Also the jm lab daline 6 had a beautiful bass but the same story. The kef carlton 3 also had a beautiful bass but same story. My heco the statement are going to deep for a carpet floor room, even for my tile floor they go to deep because the room is small but better to much as to little. If you can score a thiel 1.5 don’t hesitate, they are one of the best
I had a coworker who had a pair of 501's, circa ~1974, that he bought while in the army, stationed in Germany. Back in the 90's, he pulled them out of storage (in his barn). He brought them to me to fix, as the surrounds were gone, and he wanted a full refresh on the crossover. I found a Pioneer woofer that worked well with the box volume and replacement tweeters, put the same crossover back together with new parts. While I was getting it together, he was building a "man-cave" in his barn, and he ended up using them in there, a huge space. The refurbished speakers did a marvelous job of filling that space, and he told me that the bass used to be "flabby" but now it was tight and deep, and the sound was so much more clear than it used to be. So, while you could find an older 501, you'd be best off doing an upgrade to get the sound to match the box potential.
The strange thing is that even when the speakers would sound much better with a driver update the original bad sounding ones with the original drivers would have a higher value.
True it gets a lot of collection,I sold a lot of my collection because it’s eating a lot of space,Luckily my garage is available for those stuff but I sold receivers ,Amplifiers,Equalizers,Speakers 2 weeks ago and last weekend .I double my money and I will buy for valuable vintage stereos again little by little,Something to do to make extra money with profit ofcourse
Finally some real speakers! We all know Bose is the best, only joking offcourse. I quite liked the 301 though. They did some interesting things like the 901 and 802 proffesional speakers!. Olso they are big in aviation headphones and they even had a concept for Bose car suspension, you can look that up on youtube. So quite a interesting company but most speakers they made were so cheaply made. Great condition.
@@vintagestereoGreat condition though. And the seller could have gotten much more so understandable that he was not in the mood, thrown away 400 euro. 100 euro above the asking price though and kept his promise. He could have waited for other sellers.
Echt heel oud is antiek. Maar de term vintage in audio is voor mij de jaren '70 en '80. In audio zijn die oude buizenradio's bijvoorbeeld, antiek. Het is maar net welke term je wil gebruiken. Ben blij voor je met deze aanwinst!
You have the right to check the speakers because you have the money your buying it and if he knows that all the speakers is good no damages why not let you check them,Why his not happy because he did not get the money that he wants and other people or seller don’t wanna understand not all vintage is always expensive.Today people always wants more money because it’s vintage and their beliefs is always expensive no it’s not.Let it be Drew you have the speakers already if his not happy so be it he will move on.I buy vintage stereos but I don’t pay a lot of money because I’m a good talker I let my money and my brains works,Those sellers are desperate to let go their stuff so you have to push your price to the seller that’s how I do it and I get the stereos for good price.

Interesting speakers.. I`m very curious for the sound! Andrew, just take a look of these 5 special speakers: th-cam.com/video/Eo-O3A9vi1M/w-d-xo.html all real vintage, what do you think? the first ones (ADS L810) never heard of them, but they could sound very good.. (I have late 70s Grundig Hifi-Box 1000, with the same type mid driver & tweeter), they are very good sounding speakers, believe me, anyone who had 1970s Grundig or Philips speakers, knows what I`m talking about! (best sound I ever heard from vintage speakers) no bullshit!
@@vintagestereo that ADS L810 is a new discover for me, never know their existence, and now I`m very curious how the sound is, but no way I will ever find them here in Slovenia.. but I`m pretty sure that the sound is great, I did small research online today, and everybody are saying good things about them..
@@vintagestereo would you be interested to buy ADS L810 for a review, if they ever came on the marktplaats? If you want to see what I`m talking about, just google it, Grundig hifi-box 1000, all speakers from that series are very good, even the smallest ones, but mine are the biggest ones, 25cm bass driver and same kind of 2 "high range" drivers like in ADS L810 speakers.. very good balanced sound, great rich low bass, very clear natural and precise high tones.. the best vintage speakers I ever had, but unfortunately I`m not using them for years, because both bass drivers are broken.. (blown up because of a faulty receiver)!!!
