@@vintagestereo I have to say the Pioneer has a slight edge mainly for the beauty and the size of that monster. Sound wise to me very comparable to one another but for what I was offered for the 1250 I had to let her go.
It's got RCA hasn't it the streamer you can plug it into any input except phono or maybe disc sometimes they might write it as disk on the amplifier. You can use the auxiliary or tape input just select the Selector and you shouldn't have a problem

Not only are many vintage pieces of equipment very capable performers, they are also beautifully built, and many truly are works of art. Just the art puts these things in a place where very few (for there are some) modern devices can share. PS. Your maths is a bit dodgy ha, ha, ha... ''22 years''...

Ofcourse the marantz is way better than Akai but Akai still a good receiver but if you compare the Akai to Marantz Akai can never beat the Marantz Not Even A Bit why Marantz is like Mercedes Benz Akai is like honda that’s why we’re paying more money for marantz so there’s nothing really to compare this two NONE
That is simply not true my friend. Akai is a sleeper. It is under the radar simply because most are focused on just Marantz/Sansui/Pioneer and to some extent Kenwood. Look at reviews of Akai AA1050, 1150, 1175 and of course AA1200. Everyone are describing it as same league as the others and even BETTER! AA1200 rated 120W but measured 170W!
