- This movies a tough watch without Michael J. Fox. Justin Bateman just can't quite fit in the original Wolf's shoes. I think his dad directed this, I hope they still talk to each other. Gene and Roger don't argue too much about this forgettable venture except to compare to another horrible movie they reviewed during this same episode. I can't say much about this flick except it came out around the time of They Live, Running Man, and Robocop. Which movie would you choose?
Siskel: As I once said to you on another film, many years ago: "Date her, don't give the film a positive review."
Ebert: Y'know, if criticism ever gets tiring to you, Gene, you could always open a Lonely Hearts Agency.

I didn't realize this review continued an argument from the Date with an Angel review. That one is already on TH-cam so you can see how this got started.

Gene was probably referring to Roger’s review of The Sender (1982), which Roger liked, especially Kathryn Harrold’s performance. Roger even likened her with Ingrid Bergman.
These two guys could really turn into bitches to each other on short notice.

My kid and I watched this movie recently and made it about 25 minutes. The first one is only partially funny because Michael J. Fox. This one, even with Bateman being ok, is just a bad movie. It's actually bad enough to watch the whole thing for some solid 80s good/bad laughs.
This movie was baaaaaaaaaad.
For Robert Downey Jr in Less Than Zero, life almost imitated art, glad he survived unlike his character.
Simply the problem with movie just a reash of the first movie instead of basketball its boxing and most of the time it nearly a musical

So neither one saw the original film. Roger mentioned in his print review he didn't see the original.
I really hated that scene when Todd (played by Jason Bateman) was slapped in the face with the dead frog which Nicki (played by Estee Chandler) did at him at the 1:07 minute mark. Todd could've asked her by saying, "Why did you slap me with that frog for?" She responds, "IT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!" as she screams with her anger. I was going to think that the students were going to stare at her after she screamed at him. She orders them to turn away as she tells them to mind their business. They refused to mind their business because they are serious over the fact that she screamed at Todd.
the movie is trash.... fact.
Looks like his dad Kent Bateman produced it.
