What they dont tell is that astrid holleeder almost didnt testify anymore because the lack of police protection. And that that willem holleeder got a "celebrity" kind of status here. His own column in a paper, people bragging that they added him on facebook. Pathetic really. Thank god his sister has the balls to pulll through because its not because the dutch government nor the dutch sheeple this guy went to jail. its a few and select people who have the balls to push through and to them i say cheers.

bza321 Holleeder is a psychopath. He and his little friends are pure evil. Believe me, I've encountered one of his helpers. Low rank to be honest, but still dangerous willing to kill for stupid reasons just like Holleeder.

    • @Vinn015

Jeevee Vis its only logical he become a person like that, because of hisfather, and she is not An angel either, she was the woman of the compagnon of Holleeder she lived almost al here life of blackmoney, only because Holleeder was on his sister becaus they dont trusteachother anymore after al the things the happened, the sister Goes with it for 20 years but if ‘the eye’ is on her then suddenly she become a snitch.. taking out money of selling of the book, this brother and sister are all about money, only money, she rolls the way where the wind Goes,, you feel me

Why is it that gangsters are still portrayed as the protagonists in stories? Just look at the title and how it portrays his sister as the 'bad guy'. However, a title like "How a Dutch Gangster finally got convicted thanks to his own sisters testimony" already shifts the narrative. It's not the 30's anymore, 'good' gangsters are dead for some time now

His sister is a lying manipulative lady. Holleeder proved that she was lying on many accounts. Holleeder is no good guy he was a terrible dude and who was calculating, but his sister is no better. She partnered up with Peter R de Vries. They both had setup a plan to lock Holleeder up for a ever and they also used his story to sell books, make tv shows and movies. His sister did all this just to make money.

interesting to add is the fact that Wim Holleeder was a bit of a popular celebrity. His nickname actually became ‘de knuffelcrimineel’ (literally ‘hug-criminal’/stuffed animal criminal’/‘cuddle-criminal’) Not long before Astrid’s book came out he appeared on a big talk show on television called Collegetour, which of course raked a massive audience for the episode.

I have a story of my dad being cut off in traffic by Willem Holleeder. They literally both got out of the car, swearing loudly at each other. Holleeder is an old Amsterdammer but so is my dad so he wasn't backing down. It wasn't till they both got back in their car that my dad realised who he'd been shouting bad names at.

David van Scheppingen a skilled auteur like Hitchcock would breath life into this real life story. I already could see many parallels between this case and his movies like lodger, rope and blackmail. After all he's the master of suspense and not an average Joe director.

This is like a greek tragedy in the Netherlands. Not just Astrid, but also Sonja and Sandra ( Willems ex-girlfriend) testify against him. And Peter de Vries (famous crime reporter) Astrid Sonja and Sandra are all on his death list. Astrid her book will blow your mind and the tv series JUDAS will blow your mind. If you would send this to a publisher or production company they would tell you that your imagination is out of control, but this is all based on facts.

The guy was gunned down by two people with machine guns in broad daylight, in front of a school no less when children were playing out on the school playground. The gunmen were never found, and I'm pretty sure police were actually kind of glad the guy had been killed-

And for anyone that doesn’t speak Dutch. If your hear the “gangster” sister speak, you know that she is as guilty and as rude as her brother. A low class individual with links herself to the worst maffia you can imagine…. The sister is also a lawyer with knowledge of the procedures of how to burry her brother. One problem. The lady has monetised her story but in court not a shred of proof was offered. It is a good story an exiting story but than one should realise that the sister was intimately involved with a person that was even a bigger criminal than her brother. The truth is hard to get.

its only logical he become a person like that, because of hisfather, and she is not An angel either, she was the woman of the compagnon of Holleeder she lived almost al here life of blackmoney, only because Holleeder was on his sister becaus they dont trusteachother anymore after al the things the happened, the sister Goes with it for 20 years but if ‘the eye’ is on her then suddenly she become a snitch.. taking out money of selling of the book, this brother and sister are all about money, only money, she rolls the way where the wind Goes,, you feel me

My name is Willem too. Willem (like William in the Anglosphere) is a very common name in the Netherlands. When I go abroad and introduce myself, some people respond 'ah like Willem Dafoe' or maybe 'Willem of Orange' if they are a history buff. Once, a guy just said 'oh like Willem Holleeder' and looked me straight in the eyes with a serious face. I don't think he quite knew what he was talking about...
Anyways, this video seems a pretty good basic overview of Holleeder's history.

I've seen lots of documentaries about Willem and the whole case, it's a big deal here that the case is still going in court today. Some say it's an endless moneypit and he's just trying to win time and such, great story!
