Fantastic album and a fantastic review. My all-time favorite. The run of tracks from Halloween - Spoon (tracks 6-11 I think) is the pinnacle of DMB's studio prowess in my opinion.
Best album by DMB, personally . The band died for me with LeRoi Moore. RIP. The first 5 commercial albums were absolute gold. I got a burned copy of Busted Stuff from a friend several years before it was released commercially. It was called “The Lillywhite Sessions” on Napster. Busted Stuff and Everyday were great albums, but I think “Before These Crowded Streets” was peak DMB.

“The Stone” I believe is about his Sister being murdered. “Rhyme and Reason” is the song about heroin. “Needle is my great escape”
“Song That Jane Likes” is the tribute to his sister. That was her favorite song.
