Dara Adam Khel is the gateway to the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
During the war of independence from the British rule, to increase pressure on the British government, Ajab Khan Afridi, the descendant of Dara, took Miss Alice, the daughter of a British officer, from Kohat and imprisoned her in Dara.
Dara Adam Khel is rich in coal deposits. However, there has been a dispute over the mining lease between the two ethnic groups of the region, Zarghan Khel and Sunikhel, for a few years. Yesterday, Zarghan Khel held a protest rally in which the government and related institutions were demanded to resolve the issue through understanding or else. There may be a bloody clash in the area.
