I just purchased a 2023 Taos S base model here in Houston Texas. Your review is the B3ST and most SPOT-ON of any I have seen on TH-cam. I will definitely subscribe to your Channel. I almost went with the higher-priced SE model, but after test-driving them I felt like the front-wheel drive base model performed better and was sportier then the dual-clutch. You mentioned this was fun to drive I think you'd be surprised because the base model is more fun in my opinion. It also gets better gas mileage. I don't do a lot of off-road driving so I don't need the four-wheel drive. Anyway thanks for the review. I'm so excited about my new purchase and I'm sharing your video with Friends vet are too far away to come see my car.❤❤❤

Thank you for this review. Averaging 27 MPG in the city while accelerating hard as many times as you did is not bad, especially for a vehicle with 4-motion. Getting on the highway and following speed limits would likely get you further up the ladder on MPG.

Heavy German accent aside, a nice review. And, I own one.

I got my Jetta in January 2021 and have difficulties with reliability. Plastic in some spots was already replaced by warranty after one year of use. and for example textile of sunshade out of place at one side. Sometimes it's just burning oil and cooler for some reason was getting message of low cooling after a year and oil low message couple times between maintains schedules. I was looking to the Taos to upgrade Jetta, but after all those things I questioning if just should go with different carmaker. Thank you for review

I've had 3 Golfs over the years, and my wife drives a Beetle. my previous 2 Golfs had well over 300K miles, and my current mk7 Golf has 100K miles. They last for a really long time, but they require proper maintenance. If they are well maintained and not abused, they last and last. I haven't experienced oil burning or coolant burning in mine - coolant should not burn and would indicate a leak somewhere. Oil burning is somewhat common in many newer cars, as in order to get higher fuel economy numbers they've lowered the tolerances with the piston rings. I still haven't heard that VWs burn oil, but so long as it doesn't burn a lot, I would just check it once in awhile and top up as needed. I actually keep looking at the Taos, and other than a few minor things that irk me (it doesn't have blinkers in the mirrors, some of the switchgear is a little cheaper than I'd like) it seems like a really great little SUV. The 1.5L should be a really solid engine.

It's truly a wonder that VW is still in business. So disappointing and I'll NEVER own one. VW makes no attempt to resolve this either. Toyotas for me all day!

I like my Taos, it is a fun subcompact SUV to drive. I have a 22 S with 4motion and IQ drive. I am very concerned about long term reliability. I have had my check engine light come on twice so far. The first one was fixed with a software update and I am taking the car to the dealer this week to get the second one checked out. The car only has 5000 miles on it.

you showed the all wheel drive. The fuel economy is more respectable with the front wheel drive version.

I have heard of people getting as many as 40 mpg with the FWD. I am getting ready to purchase and my loan officer suggested I get the AWD because it will have better resale value. Hmm. Efficiency vs. resale value. 2023 AWD Taos is estimated mpg 25 city / 32 hwy. I struggle to get 30 to 32 mpg in my 2015 Honda CR-V FWD, so I'd be fine with this range.
