"We put three demands in front of the government, and called on them to accept these demands. We called for this rally ten days ago, saying that we will organize a march, and that these are demands. The ten days have passed and there has been no response by the government, so we did a huge march here and there has still been no response by the government, therefore until our demands aren't met, we will sit here in protest."

STORYLINE:
Hundreds of supporters of the radical Islamist party Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) sat in protest on Sunday on main highway between Islamabad and Rawalpindi in support of Palestinians in the Gaza strip.
TLP have three demands, Israeli products should be banned on a national level, medical assistance should be given to "our Palestinian brothers and sisters" and the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu must be declared a terrorist by the government of Pakistan.
Chaudhry Rizwan Ahmed Safi, a legal advisor for Tehreek-e-Labbain said they put forward these three demands ten days ago, but had received no response by the government.
"We called for this rally ten days ago, saying that we will organize a march, and that these are demands," he said.
"he ten days have passed and there has been no response by the government, so we did a huge march here and there has still been no response by the government, therefore until our demands aren't met, we will sit here in protest," he added.
On the other side, of the blocked highway, residents are facing problems.
Jahangir Ahmed, a local resident traveling by motorcycle with his elderly mother, said that Pakistan has been suffering from "a lot of disturbance" lately.
"There's a lot of disturbance, I don’t know what is happing in Pakistan. A lot of rises in prices, electricity cut off."
Ahmed also criticised the protesters, saying he did not understand what they where trying to achieve.
"I don’t know where they want to take this country. They are not willing to understand, nor do they have any knowledge of anything."
Israel launched its campaign in Gaza after Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack in which militants stormed into southern Israel, killed some 1,200 people - mostly civilians - and abducted about 250.
Since then, Israeli ground offensives and bombardments have killed more than 38,300 people in Gaza and wounded more than 88,000, according to the territory’s Health Ministry.
The ministry does not distinguish between combatants and civilians in its count.
