Very much. For starters, gymnastics is a sport and ballet is an art. They both require a lot of physical agility and athleticism, and both of them have an element of music and choreography to them, but otherwise they are fundamentally entirely different animals.
It's just a lot and lot of practice, flexibility it's something that you learn, also the breathing it's so important, a relax breathing helps to make better flexibility :)
I think its so cool that Ulyana Trofimova is left legged, alll the elite gymnasts I've seen are right legged I don't know why that amazes me hahah, and also neta rivkins points and relevé are AMAZING I want!!!
stretch. go as fas as u can in the splits, and stay there, in like 20 second intervals. try to do that at least 3-4 times a week, while ur watching tv or something.
rhythmic gymnastics is mainly ballet and gymnastics these are the only 2 MAIN things. this is only performed by women or girls because there is a certain amount of grace needed also these athletes are very strong but do not reveal their muscles as men do. hope this cleared things out for you.
Holger Burgard dude, shes right... you mustnt bounce unless you have the flexibility and its your warming up... because if youre trying to stretch like that you may seriously damage your body
+Holger Burgard i understand your point but as a dancer i can surely say it's not safe or healthy '-' there are people who watch this and think "oh, she is a professional gymnast and shes doing it, so i will do it too!" - i'm not "worried" about that gymnast '-' but when you know youre being filmed you must be responsible for the ones who may end up watching your training... its ok to bounce if your body is conditiioned to (because you probably have trained your whole life like that and your body allows you to do some "non-static" exercices for warming up), but theres a right and wrong for everything - ps - what if she doesnt know what shes doing? what if she is just doing because she thinks it will have faster results or because she just wanted to do something different that day? ive seen it happening before and it's not cool.... putting your own body in risk of getting damaged is not nice
guess you don't want the answer anymore after 8 years, but I'm still going to respond. they start at a very early age 3 to 5 and stretch multiple times a week for a long time. starting with normal stretching and then of course over stretching. there are multiple tools to help with that.
In rhythmic gymnastics there are different apparatus (clubs, ribbon, hoop, ball, rope) and there are more moves like the cartwheel or the splits and there are different leotards
I feel so unflexible when I watch this.
I love rhythmic gymnastics.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thats awsome, wish i had a coach to take me all day like that lol

Question: How do they get this flexible? Is it just that they practice stretching a lot, or do they do something specific?
