My daughter does Rhythmic gymnastics and a few years ago, her classmates (who did artistic gymnastics ) called rhythmic gymnastics "easy gymnastics". It drove her mad. Then one of them tried it, didn't find it easy and now they don't say that anymore!
that is so sad... but unfortunately true in a lot of circumstances, people used to think we just 'twirled ribbons' that used to drive me crazy. I think the awareness for the sport is improving though, little by little...
Our gym did both artistic and rhythmic gymnastics - or as it was called rhythmic and real gymnastics (until the open taster day we held where the artistic girls tried rhythmic... yeah we were just artistic and rhythmic after that one too!! 🤣)
Really good to hear. I'm in the trampoline world and so many times you hear about how trampoline is 'easy' because it's just 'flips and tricks but you don't have to do any work'. There is so little known about the other gymnastics disciplines - RG, trampoline, DMT, Acro, Aerobic, tumbling; just to name a few. You are a gymnast if you do any of these - but people associate 'gymnast' with the beam/bar/floor of artistic and often aren't even aware of these disciplines and how different from the well known artistic gym they are. There needs to be more awareness of the lesser seen disciplines of gymnastics - your video is great and explains the matter really well from an RG point of view. 😁👍
Thank you so much for your comment! Its so interesting hearing it from all different perspectives. I used to train in the same hall as the British trampolinists at the national rhythmic training camps, and their discipline is definitely so different to any of the others. I definitely agree there needs to be an increase in awareness, so little but surely we will get through.
Thanks for this video. I live in Greece and here almost nobody knows what rhythmic gymnastics is... when they ask me what sport I am doing i answer rg. And always, like always they are like "ohhhh so you can flip right?" And I am just sitting there trying to explain what rg really is... I think it's a struggle that almost every rhythmic gymnast has been through... Love you, keep doing an amazing work💛

Miss Phoenix I would say to go for it! If it’s something you really want to try don’t let anything hold you back, there are lots of very good gymnasts who aren’t super flexible, often their apparatus handling is insane, so if you are struggling with the flexibility side you can always focus on trying to make your apparatus handling even better!

@HannahMartinRG In Indonesia, rhythmic gymnastics are thought as general gymnastics - it was done with music (like RG) but without any apparatus and insane flexibility, but have aerobic movements (note that aerobic music are mainly house EDM). Hi I really want to do gymnastics but I don't know what type. In rhythmic do you have to do every apperates and not just one and what do you wear to practice
XoX kight usually seniors are required to do all 4 apparatus, clubs, hoop, ribbon, and ball. And it really depends on what club you go to with what you are required to wear. Some gym clubs strictly want you to wear a leotard to training others are more lenient and let you wear any type of sports clothing as long as it is suitable for training 😄 hope that helps 😄

I am a contortionist but I am not ina a gym I learn at home and I don't know which one have more flexabilaty and I don't think I fit in anyone so can you tell me
Really interesting video. I didn't know any of that. However, I did find it a little odd when you started off saying that rhythmic gymnasts don't flip all over the place because you need to keep one body part on the floor at all times. Then you followed that with a shot of a rhythmic gymnast leaping off the floor. So, there are acceptable ways to leave the floor completely, then.
The annoying thing is people always forget a minute after you tell them what rhythmic gymnastics is I told a lot of my friends that I do rhythmic and as usual, they instantly asked if I can do flips then I explained to them what it actually was and they looked like they understood A few weeks later I told them I do rhythmic again and they did the exact same thing ARRGGG
I’m a romanian rhytmic gymnast and I know this things...If I say “oh, I’m practicing gymnastics” and the persons that I talked to, said “omg, you can do flicks wow...do now a backflip!” And I’m like “No, I’m a rhytmic not an artistic gymnast man...” than the person said “Ahm cool..but what’s the difference?” 😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️
you missed so much in artistic gymnastics we also need extreme strength to be able to flip so high jump from bar to bar, balance for beam, speaking of beam also trying not to split it which can cause serious injury, hours and hours to master a skill perfectly, trying not to die, and also a lot of focus and self control.
This is so true I do rhythmic gymnastics and I had a fight with my classmate about this youtuber Salish Matter I said, " Why do you never think that I am flexible and you think that Salish is so flexible!" She was like , " You think you are better than her! Then can you do 11 back hand springs?" I was like, " I don't do gymnastics I do RHYTHMIC gymnastics. I don't learn how to do flips and tumbles!"
you said in Rhythmic gymnastics, the person has to have a body part that touches the floor, but at 3:26 of your video, the girl on the bottom right corner is completely off the floor?
Happy Hopping in that picture I am doing a leap, which is allowed in rhythmic gymnastics, the rule only applies to acrobatic elements. So you must have a body part on the floor during an acrobatic element. Hope that makes sense? 🙈😄
I might be wrong but I saw this girl during the world championship in Sofia, so she is already on the big scene. I can't agree that 3-6 hours are enough if you want to be from the best.
@@HannahMartinRG well you have all the physical qualities to be of the best and it is obvious that you train very hard. Could you do a video: rythmic gymnast tries baton twirling? I feel like this sport is the love child between artistic and rythmic gymnastics although the baton technique is quite different.
all my friends call the clubs batons
Léo Czn wow, that is so cool, I’ve never heard of it before but I’d love to give it a go 😄😄😄
I do both artistic and rhythmic gymnastics and I love them both veryyyyyy much 💗🤸♀️
Yas! that is so cool, and a great mix of ability! Love it!
I can relate so much omg😂loved the video🥰
yess me too

Hi .How to know we are interested in rhythmic gymnastics or artistic gymnastics? I dont know😢but I love crazy flexibility but i love flips
in my country almost no one understands what rhythmic gymnastics is😓
same dude
In the Philippines rg is extremely popular i was suppose to be a artistic gymnast but im now a rg
I used to be an artistic gymnast 3 years ago but now im so mesmerised by rhythmically gymnastics and im considering joining gymnastics again but idk which one to join
Theophiliv you should definitely try and get involved! Maybe look around for what clubs are in your area, do a few trial sessions at each one and decide which one you like best 😃
It would be interesting to see an artistic gymnast doing some rhytmic gymnastig elements. Maybe content for an other vid.
You girls are so talented I don't know how you catch that stuff the way you do
For my rhythmic gymnastics league we do ball, clubs, hoop, ribbon and rope too but for my league we do clubs at level 2 or higher
That's so true... They always say that I am doing artistic gymnastics and I must everytime to remind them that I am doing rhythmic gymnastics and they are like: "whatever... They haven't so much difference..." And am like "yes they have!" And they are like "whatever..." 🙄🙄🙄
Literally! so true!
In Poland we have bigger problem. We have: rhythmic gimnastics, artistic gimnastics, sport gimnastics and acrobatics. Every is different and we don't have beam, vault or anything of it
Omg really in greece we have sometimes that problem about artistic gymnastics in some places they have only floor and they call it artistic gymnastics
I finally finished exams! I need to catch up with your videos 🙈
PonyGirl Gamez congrats! How did they go? ❤️
HannahMartinRG they went pretty well 😊
Loved it!
what is the pivot called at 2:44?
@SummerFunChinchillas Thanks for answering!.
But I meant the one that Simone Biles is doing / the one which starts at 2:41/2 on the rhythmic side?
I've just started rhythmic
Starting with ribbon and hoop any tips and tricks
How old were you?
Thank you!👍👍👍🤸♂️🤸♂️🤸♂️
Where I live there is like 7 artistic gymnastics gyms, 0 rhythmic gyms. I have only seen one rhythmic gymnast in my life
My friends were like: WhAts RhYtHmIc GyMnAsTicS
ThAts So WeIrD
I NeVeR hEaRd Of It
And like when I tell them I do Gymnastics their like: Oh so whats ur fav apparatus? Me: club
Them: Wtf is that
I am a contortionist but I am not ina a gym I learn at home and I don't know which one have more flexabilaty and I don't think I fit in anyone so can you tell me
As an rg with very little ag experience I think both are very centered around flexibility but I think that rg requires more flexibility 😊
The annoying thing is people always forget a minute after you tell them what rhythmic gymnastics is
I told a lot of my friends that I do rhythmic and as usual, they instantly asked if I can do flips
then I explained to them what it actually was and they looked like they understood
A few weeks later I told them I do rhythmic again
and they did the exact same thing ARRGGG
I’m a romanian rhytmic gymnast and I know this things...If I say “oh, I’m practicing gymnastics” and the persons that I talked to, said “omg, you can do flicks wow...do now a backflip!” And I’m like “No, I’m a rhytmic not an artistic gymnast man...” than the person said “Ahm cool..but what’s the difference?” 😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️
I always thought it was just ballet 🩰 🙈until I found your channel (from the US & I’d never heard the term RG)
you missed so much in artistic gymnastics we also need extreme strength to be able to flip so high jump from bar to bar, balance for beam, speaking of beam also trying not to split it which can cause serious injury, hours and hours to master a skill perfectly, trying not to die, and also a lot of focus and self control.
Rythmic can do front and back walkover, cartwheels and forward roll
I do r.g when I say I am a gymnast they say can you do a flip? 😭🤦🏻♀️
Can't you do even a flip?
I agree with you
This is so true I do rhythmic gymnastics and I had a fight with my classmate about this youtuber Salish Matter I said, " Why do you never think that I am flexible and you think that Salish is so flexible!"
She was like , " You think you are better than her! Then can you do 11 back hand springs?"
I was like, " I don't do gymnastics I do RHYTHMIC gymnastics.
Dicho Kusarov yes, you often have to train 6+ hours on elite level, but 3-6 hours are an average across all levels of rhythmic gymnastics
@@HannahMartinRG well you have all the physical qualities to be of the best and it is obvious that you train very hard. I don't like the shape of the jumps but your pirouettes and balances are amazing and I just don't get why you do so many apparatus handling errors.Work with your choreographer and try to enjoy more your performance instead being so stressed. I ca't wait to see your star shining in the top ranking.
i can tell you that noo ,if you want ti be on the top 3 hours aren't enoguh..
gymnast from russia, bulgaria, ukraine.italy, bealrus all train at least 8\10 at day
and even youn girl who are not in the national team, but they eant to be on the top in those country trained 678 hours per day, girls at the age of 10\12 who train in the morning doing private school is quite normal and accepted if you want to be on the top in those country
Once I was describing myself and I wrote 'I do artistic gymnastics' and my friend walked by and she said ''oh if you just say gymnastics I think everyone will know which kind of gymnastics you are doing''
No such confusion in Russia, lol. both type are quite strong, but rhythmic is more popular. In Israel thanks to Linoy Ashram the awareness has increased, although rhythmic gymnastics has always been much stronger here than artistic.
You are very adorable.. and knowledgeable. I grew up doing Artistic Gymnastics because that’s primarily what’s here in the US (that I’m aware of) but I was always interested in rhythmic gymnastics since I was a little girl. I think it’s so beautiful & id like to see some of your routines
Hannah, did you end up learning the flip? :)
I want artistic but my family want rythymic :(
In Polish rhytmic gymnastic od gimnastyka artystyczna but artistic gymnastic od gimnastyka sportowa
In dance, it's pirouette, so hearing spins, well... XD
Omg gurl so relatable
Team rhythmic gymnastics ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Could you imagine if one day someone found a way to combine the two
I’m russian and I absolutely hate when people don’t pronounce apparatus correctly for example the commentators or other people
Omg cutie thanks for this video 🤤💗💗
Rhythmics Earth no problem 😘😘🙏🏻
Simone Biles is like the only woman I like for what they do not just how they look. Love like Simone Biles!! (Please don't hate that I didn't mention rhythmic... I haven't watched the video yet!)
Super
NOOO I feel bad now😭
Is there a rhythmic gymnastics for men?
Rg
I don't like rhytmic gymnastic
I like artistic
. im not a Gymnast athlete But I can do RG...
i tell people i do gymnastics they thibk i can do all these flips but i do rythmic
Also, acro gymnastics is also forgotten aswell 😭
How do you even become a rhythmic gymnast
ohhhh ithought your only allowed to use rope in seniors
Yassssss queen
People: what sport do you do
Me: gymnastics
People:can you do a flip
Me:no
People: I thought you were a gymnast
Honestly there are different types of gymnastics people
Leah Selbie 😂😂😂🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 #rhythmicgymnasticsproblems
Rhythmic gymnasts are thinner than artistic gymnasts.
yes because artistic gymnasts need bigger muscles
They are typically MUCH taller as well!
Legend has it Biden was gold medal in autistics gymnastics
speak louder
You're so cute
I didnt understand a thing. You were all over the place. Everyone is now more confused.
