I have a TY-51 on Trainz. Along with more PKP steam a bit of diesel and coaching stock. I love the PKP TY-51. I want to see an actual TY-51 in person so bad. I really admire the design of the Polish steam locomotives. One thing that amazes me is the whistle. It sounds so American! It sounds like it came off of a former NG Durango and Silverton engine. Also is this before the end of Communism in Poland and the Berlin Wall falling?
Thanks for your comments, the series Ty-51 was build in Poland, the model is a replica of an American Steam locomotive. the first one was constructed in 1951 ,between 1953-1958 242 locomotives were produced. The SeriesTy51 was developed for pulling heavy freight trains , this video was taken before the Berlin wall was fallen. see also:
Correction, they weren't replicas. They were instead reverse engineered and somewhat modified versions of the american locomotives ie. the piston vlalves, fire grate, superheaters, the addition of dampers and a mechanical stoker etc. These modifications allowed the engines to work more efficiently and not run out of steam when burning poorer quality coal used on the polish network.
