There is a variant that is available here in Australia that uses a 4 x 4 system called 4xMotion (the set up you have there is called 4Motion over here) that uses a low range transfer case, center and rear differential locks, height adjustable air suspension and some other goodies too, the Touregs fitted with it are absolute beasts off road while still maintaining their on road refinement.
The original Touareg had that here....but like so often in USA, they have to make them boulevard cruisers to appease the masses. In other words, they have to make them soft and cushy...and wimpy. ☹️

I am at 80,000 miles on mine 2014 TDI. Best SUV i have ever bought. Average 24 mpg for daily driving.

Looking at getting a 2015 one here in Canada with only 60K kilometres. In Exec R-line trim too. How is overall reliability of it for you? And overall ownership experience?
How do you get 24?? I’ve heard these get 40 combined easy
@@MattySquared More like the cars get 40. The max MPG on the hwy is like 28-29. Mine has 137,000 now and have the emissions fixes and I still average the same.

heavy is good in the rainy places like Portland they handle better. lighter cars aren't as good in the rain

He said about a 700 mile fuel range, which no crossover even gets close to. Then at the end he complains about the fuel mileage, which makes no sense.
Just under "20 mpg city" is poor but then some how it manages nearly 30 mpg hwy which is good. But to say 700 miles on a full tank is not a mpg rating at all. I would ask, what size is the gas tank? 14 gallon? 20 gallon? What?

Chris Boyer I kinda of skirted looking up the specs. I suspected the devil was in the details. 26 gals is a lot of gas but it somehow beats my honda element which does 17 to 18 MPG and will get about 250 miles off of 13 gallions. I never go all the way to empty. But suffice to say 26 gallons would get me about 500 miles.
Chris Boyer One is a logistical matter, the other is a financial matter. A big tank and average fuel economy does not mean you save money over a vehicle with a smaller tank and better fuel economy.
You wish the gas mileage was better!? It’s a 5,000 lb. SUV which gets 20/29/23 mpg. how much more do you want?

@@olegk455 Because it's the best combination of luxury on-road and the off-road beast car. At the same time it's very reliable car. I'm also willing to buy a 2015-2016 model!
@@mareklansky2948 My search for 15-16 Touareg TDI was not very successful, since they are so hard to get lately with lower kilometres, so we ended up getting a very nice 2013 Audi Q7 TDI S-line package and we like it a lot. I know it’s not quite the same and more expensive to own in the long run but I am a mechanic by trade so that will help. It’s quite a bit more spacious than Touareg for our family needs but my god that thing is a behemoth of a vehicle.

Ауди больше нравится,плюс имеет 7 мест, что для меня не менее важно. Но!!! 1.) на много ли Ауди будет дороже в обслуживании. 2) надежнее ли Touareg , чем Q7 ? Если да ,то как сильно. Заранее спасибо.

Great car. But 51k seems a little too high for a vehicle with no leather or sunroof.
But when you think about it, the X3 and GLK also don't have leather or a sunroof for the same price, and they're smaller.

Boy, for being a bigger car, it doesn't have much cargo. A 2014 Ford Escape has more room 34.3 seats up...67.8 seats folded. ( Flat by the way).

For a Volkswagen it's overpriced. It doesn't lead in any category: off-road nah, luxury, nope, power lol no no, mpg meh, brand hell na.
