What a joke that people thought Rami Malek gave the best leading actor performance last year and Daveed Diggs got nothing for this explosive four minutes.
The popular films/shows always get the awards. Matthew Mcconaughey lost the Lead Actor Emmy to Bryan Cranston in 2014, and yes Cranston is good and all but Matthews performance in True Detective season 1 was practically perfect. True Detective also lost the Emmy for the best Drama Series because of Breaking Bad and it's honestly frustrating. I understand that everyone loved Breaking Bad so they were very biased towards the whole thing but TD S1 is better than any season of Breaking Bad, not even up for debate. The award shows are pathetic.
@@thomassutton5128 Bryan Cranston embodied Walter though lol McConaughey did too, but Cranston was able to explore Walter to the T with more seasons lol
Rami portrayed a real life character to the tee and was able to engage us into the film as we were there as well making us feel various emotions, he deserved the award
Miles’ original line in the script was actually “It doesn’t matter” but they changed it the day they shot it and it ended up being one of the most impactful lines in the film.
@@stuffstuff5218 He's referring to the metaphor of the movie. His ex-girlfriend showed him an optical illusion that can either be seen as a vase (hence the vase reference) or a face. The picture you do not recognize first is your blind spot. Daveed doesn't want to be blind spotted by the cop where he only sees him as the social construct of a black man and not who he really is. He is both pictures of the optical illusion and he wants the cop to recognize that.
@Mark Navarro I guess it depends on what side of the tracks you stay on 🤷🏿♂️. But to say it's a false narrative is your opinion! It's not fact! I've personally had a cop draw his weapon on me for smoking a cigarette in front of my house when I was 16. Luckily for me he had a cool head and let me explain it was my house and I wasn't finna break in. So don't undermine the problem with our policing by acting like it doesn't exist! That doesn't change the fact that it is still a problem!
The rap has so much more meaning when you watch the rest of the movie you can see he like comes up with his bars throughout the things he heard or been through
This movie was incredibly insightful and the this end scene was hands down the most powerful and well acted movie scene I've watched this year. Just spitting pure facts, that whole tree scheme at the beginning had sooooo much substance to it, felt like a triple entendre. Who ever wrote that needs some major credit 📝💯👌
I'll never truly, fully understand, because I haven't had to live it, but I'm grateful for pieces of art like this film that are vehicles of empathy. "Filling up with fear.I know you feel it, I've been feeling it for years. In fact I don't remember ever never feeling it."
Seeing this movie when I did was a special experience. And this part made me cry. It moved me and I can’t believe this movie didn’t receive more recognition
cyrilliakayy I just said that when I posted this on Facebook.. Another powerful scene in regards to inequality in a film is the first 5 minutes of “The Last Black Man in San Francisco”
Idk about regret. I think I could have been more fear. He talks about how he didn’t mean to but did he really? Shooting 4 times into a person is no accident, 1 shot I can kinda understand but the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th... idk about that
This scene right here shows his amazing gift as an actor. He brought every inch of his being to that scene (really the whole role) As a theater geek I am deeply impressed and so disappointed that I am just discovering him and his work. Dude is so incredibly underrated and this film is truly a work of art. There are so many classic moments of pure ensemble acting. Brilliant work. Just brilliant. And, I have The Collin EP on repeat. That album is powerful, as well.
The scene alone makes me want to re-listen to my "Hamilton" soundtrack (for anybody who may not be familiar, Diggs played Thomas Jefferson/Marquise De Lafayette in the original Broadway run, and he spits some awesome rapid-fire lyrics in that as well!!)
You should listen to other stuff than Hamilton. Clipping is really good also some other ones such as small things to a giant or seven nights in Chicago
My favorite scene in this film is literally this one! Everything about it was phenomenal. The acting, the message, the words, the freestyle, Daveed himself, EVERYTHING. Had me shook the entire time! Amazing movie and so underrated and so relevant to today! BLACK LIVES MATTER. 🗣👏🏾❤️
How on earth can anyone see this and still think the opposite of what this movie has to say. Power and emotion and sincerity in every word spoken. No one can doubt the truth on display here.
Daveed is simply stunning. His range is remarkable and he becomes completely immersed in his character. It’s hard to remember when you watch him acting this role that he is the graduate of an Ivy League university (Brown). This role is so different than his dual roles in Hamilton. I don’t think there’s any role at which Daveed would not excel. Just think: he is at the START of his career! Imagine what he will be like after he has honed his skills for several decades!
I recently watched this movie and this part stuck with me he broke down the ideology of a word and what he’s facing This movie definitely need more recognition

Best part of the movie!
“Are you sure?” Is one of the most damning lines in movie history
And he looked at the camera when he said it. Powerful gesture that he meant us, as a society. We all have blindspots.
