Chevy Cruze chirp. It might not be your belt. 2011-2016.

  • Hello everyone. In this video I discover another reason why your Chevy Cruze or Sonic with the 1.4L turbo engine could develop a “chirp”. Most of the time you would think belt or even a pulley, but a loose spark plug could fool you and ruin your day.
In this Cruze I found #2 spark plug loose about 3/4 of a turn. The cylinder compression leaking past the threads of the plug causing the chirp and discoloring the plug and boot. This is a first one for me folks. Being a Mechanic is a constant learning experience. Thanks for watching! Please subscribe, like and share.
    Thanks again.

In under four minutes, you showed me exactly what I needed to do. Best of all, it worked! Just had the valve cover replaced recently. I think that might’ve been part of the issue. And the engine sounds wonderful now. I am beyond impressed!!!

Just did this to my Cruze, been trying to sell it and everyone turned away because they thought it was the engine.. watched this video and fixed in minutes. Thank you 🙏🏽 do you know what the clicking noise would be that you hear or is that a normal noise to hear

Hey thanks man. I’m so glad this helped you.
Now the clicking noise you talk about… i assume from the engine when running.. yes a little noise is normal on these engines provided that the engine oil is full and maintained. It’s a combo of valve train and injector noises. Hope this helps.. and I really hope your subscribed! Consider doing so if not already 👊

My Honda CR-V 2009 usually makes this sound on the first start every time after it rains I really don’t understand why. Because on a sunny dry day on my first start the engine is so quite. What do you think I should do?

Sounds like an aging serpentine belt is your problem. Also have the belt tensioner checked for proper operation, that it’s keeping the correct tension on the belt. Probably a new belt and tensioner should fix you right up. Good luck. Thanks for the comment! Hope you’re subscribed!

Not all… these engines need to be serviced regularly with good synthetic oil. 👊🏼
