I really don't see the point of this game. It's basically random, because you have nothing to deduce off and no way to trap anyone in a lie because you don't have multiple nights to gather information. I'll stick to regular Werewolf.
You'll have to try it. You'll see how the truth tends to come out eventually and it's actually quite amazing how the conversations morph into usable info. Don't write it off until you've tried it.
If you have not played this game your opinion makes sense, I was thinking the same thing as you before playing. But consider a game with the troublemaker in the mix. If a player claims to have swapped two other players cards during the night, if one of those players were a werewolf, they'd now want to sell out the new werewolf. Great, so you sell out another player who's now a werewolf. Only now the troublemaker player says, "Ok, only I wasn't the troublemaker, I was a villager. He just confessed, shoot him!" So there are ways to get information in this game even as a villager. Sure, it might backfire too. Say another player was the troublemaker and says this before your bluff has played out. Now suddenly you are a suspect even though you're a villager.
I LOVE this game, I received it on Monday, one of the best games in my collection.
Good review... I like that you don't like normal werewolf but like this one.
This reminds me a bit of Mascarade

The resistance ended this games whole career.
One Night is so much bigger than Resistance lol
Yeah but who has that many friends?
