    I know I've said it already but I'm so thankful for your vids. You're doing the same build I plan on doing myself so these are just priceless. Also hoping these save me some forum lurking lol Keep em coming!

    Be careful when tightening the cam cover bolts...don't go nuts, just lightly tighten the bolts and use some sealant for the back as oil tends to seap out over time

    Etcsi is fine to buy it’s only $18.99 to convert it to work with cable throttle

      thats the kicker it doesnt work with the stock ecu unless you know how to disable it which i cant find that information i been looking

      Also, if you’re swapping into an ETCS-i car (later IS300s and GS’s) that’s probably a better choice. I have a 2004 GS300 that I’m planning to do a 1JZ swap into, and I’m pretty set on an ETCS-i version.

    maf goes on the side that says etcs, which is actually the intake side. the side with the turbo is the exhaust side.
    other than that, the motor looks decent externally. good luck with the project.

      @Andy-DE4 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Your 100% wrong, MAF is an air flow meter, Measuring air flow into the car before the turbo. It sits on the turbo side usually just after the air intake.

    Debating vvti or nonvvti. Heard vvti is an interference motor with the timing belt, what are your opinions about it? I want the vvti but being an interference motor I’m a little concerned

    • @1jzinmysoup
      @1jzinmysoup 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vvti is not interference or does not detonate if you mess up the timing until you have an upgraded cam

    VVTI or Non VVTI I would like to have the option of 600hp in the future.. i have a 240z Datsun 1972-ish(not sure about the year).

      Both will make that power with modest upgrades. Vvti biggest difference is quicker power band down low on rpm

    I ended up using duel electric fans, hey do you still have the old turbo and if so do you want to part with it, my turbo is leaking oil big time, it's only a matter of time before it goes kaput.

    good motor choice.Ut I like all the charm of the L28 slightly warmer over. I really enjoy naturally aspirated dual carb Z motors. I also love love love my license.the stock motor warmed up has all the power Indeed for the street and occasional track driving. And is very very very low-cost and maintainable to service with out computer to check the computer no relays and multi sensors.no CPU...My choice is a analog vintage car. Good luck with your drive chain source nothing like HP!

      Eduardo Alvarez not any more, able racing here where I live likes the VVTi over the non VVTi because of the ability to come into boost quicker ... anyone who says they have trouble tuning VVTi I wouldn’t let them touch anything ..

      CK_32 vtec moves the actual cam to a higher duration/lift lobe at a certain rpm, while vvt advances or retards timing.

      layman's terms
      To put something in layman's terms is to describe a complex or technical issue using words and terms that the average individual (someone without professional training in the subject area) can understand, so that they may comprehend the issue to some degree.

      Thank you! Got it from an eBay importer JDM shop USA. All together shipped, I paid 4200. I actually talked them down a bit too. One thing I forgot to mention in the video is front/rear sump. It was very hard finding a vvti rear sump and r154 together. The one I bought was only one on eBay, which is why I paid dearly..

    So what exactly makes Drive by Wire hard to be used? I kinda want to go 1JZ for a swap and don't mind Drive by Wire but if it's something that would make it a headache to be used then I would like to know before I go 1JZ over a 5.3
