I'm single, no kids, work from home with no friends. My clone would be the first one to come back to the center and be like, F that boring ass life, send the original back and deactivate me.

What if... Since the cancer gene is modified in the clone he can't die from the same thing which may result in him living longer than his wife, so then the wife being unaware that the husband got himself cloned not wanting the clone husband to live alone gets herself cloned when it's her turn to die...

And then the cycle keeps going but anyway, in sci fi they always say " you can't clone a clone" so probably not in infinite loop

@@ABESW0RLD If "you can't clone a clone" I guess the clones get to mourn each other's passing which the originals robbed each other the chance to do LOL
It's a rather odd thing to sell to people, it's like you're choosing to masochistically mourn your own death by yourself robbing others in your life the chance to mourn with you which is a privilege not everyone gets to have. Some people simply never get the chance to say goodbye ever

I'd be the perfect candidate to be cloned. I'm a middle child with no attachments whatsoever. Nobody would ever notice nor be weirded out by anything she would do. She could go to work and I would be touring the World.

Not forever. I don't think we could ever reach forever, which is trillions and trillions of years, but 100 yrs is woefully short.
We complain a lot now and rightly so. The world has so much suffering, so much INJUSTICE in it. But it was much MUCH worse up until about 75 yrs ago. And before ~150 yrs ago? The avg person 150 yrs ago lived about same as the worst-off of us now live. My point is that we've come an inconceivable distance into goodness and justice in the last century or so. The two big wars and Great Depression that separated them beget a better world. That better world has slowly expanded to include much of the world.
Obviously I acknowledge that it's only relativistically better, and that better has made life worse for some. It's also damaged the planet permanently. At least "permanent" on a human scale.
We all know we're at a fork in the road. Or maybe it's a crossroad. Either way, things will change drastically. Either we lose the last 75 yrs of peace and plenty, or it continues and improves and expands.
its hard to generalize Quality of Life for 8 billion ppl, i guess. Hard to say we're doing good when a billion ppl (or more) don't have permanent access to fresh, clean water, sanitation, sufficient food, shelter and education. But we do know that for most of human history the vast majority of humans lacked some or all of those things. Most families would lose a child (or more) before adulthood. Most men had seen war or at least some sort of battle. Maybe not "most" only bc so many were already dead from the battle or sickness that came after. Starvation, war, plagues - those were the norm, not the exception.
We can say it's better if for no other reason beyond our knowledge of just how shitty it was.
I don't want to live forever in any century, but even if life was the way it was 1500 yrs ago during the Dark Ages, I'd still like more than 50-70 good yrs in good health.
I'm 41 and often feel like shit. Why did really good only last for like 25 yrs?! And in many ways, I feel better now than i did then bc my back and shoulders hurt constantly.
Instead of 100, I'd like us to slow aging waaaaaayyyyy down. At least for some ppl
