have to be careful with engagements tho, if both the shields somehow drop versus a stronger opponent, your small reactor will not be able to sustain your offense, refill the shields, and deliver sufficient thrust. Timing disengagement is pretty crucial.
@@thatonekmc Much appreciated, spent a full day just dying and restarting trying to figure out what did and did not work. Not yet ready to watch your video or the next one you make but very happy to know it exists and will watch them both when i am done trying to learn for myself.
I would like to know how you increased the starter ship cost. The layout you use as your starter ship is over the cap by a little over 2k. Makes no sense
How do you build the 45 degree angle ships that I see using ion beams. I'm going crazy trying to figure this out. The steam discussions dont touch on it one bit either. I tried to click the arrow that popped up the flight direction arrows... selected the NE one and then the blueprint just stayed at the default 90 degree build style. Really perplexed how to get the angle mirror to work.
they aren't building them diagonally, they are using the ninety degree angles for the two beams, then the diamond is just set in between.. if you actually look at the designs they are just tricking you into believing its angled by flying the ship wonky.. they ship is being flown at a diagonal which makes you believe the lasers are diagonal

It is funny to have good videos and still don't have a clue how to actually play :D So I have very little storage room and also I found too strong enemies very fast. Should I just mine or do quests? When it is a good idea to start upgrading the ship, and with what? Is it worth to just strap 2 extra lasers onto it? Or 2 more storage rooms? Can/should I go for missiles immediately? Ofc I will figure out something myself, but there is still room for guidance to kickstart the game:D
I just mined out an astroid field upgrading to mining early and bunch of storage until i had a giant ship that could takeout anything and mine all of it. missile launchers really help in hitting the sides and back of ships. My ship is a clusterfuck though a ball of armor and guns protecting massive storage and all subsystems.
Move the crew to another ship, select one weapon, have it target one part, once that part is hit the ship gets considered junk, then you can just have your crew salvage it like dead enemy ships. I also suggest deleting as many parts as possible before doing this to save time.
definitely some nice easy to remember layout tricks, i always have issues with armor, that ship looked like a weird space station with a ring of armor around it, can you expand more on those ideas and tactics?
That is a rail spinner, it spins to spread out the damage taken and only fires the rails when they are pointed at an enemy, focusing on important parts such as reactors and control rooms. I'll make a video on it at some point.
Are you fed up that the fat pirate base is mocking you from inside its strong shields? Just push the next friendly base towards them and salvage the loot!
On my first game despite knowing nothing about the game i chose the twin cannon ship, my first death was because of accidentally running into a pirate station, and my second was because i got stuck in a asteroid while a enemy slammed me in the a$$, but remember this, two cannons shred the enemy like paper
Yeah after further testing I have found that you can make some pretty good starter cannon ships even with a shield. I managed to get one with four cannons and one shield. Which is the same firepower as eight lasers.

Double shields on a start ship is op
All while having 4 front lasers, yeah, that's a pretty insane starter ship
Yeah i thought mine was solid with 4 lasers and one shield SHEESH

Would love to see a basic ship construction guide. Just got the game and it's a lot to try and figure out. Like why use structure over armor etc?
I'll get right on it, I should have it out by the end of the weekend.

@@bobdylan8569 That's a good take, learning is what I love about this game
Only if weight is a concern (due to asymmetrical design or esthetics
Exactly structure vs armor. Im mainly using armor bc i dont know whats the use of structure.

Yay! Another game which I suck at 🤣 Thankfully youtube and other videos are here. Its relaxing watching others play.
I am new to Cosmoteer. I enjoyed the first couple minutes. I will need to get a degree on how to properly build ships.
Cool game I'm gonna check it out!
worth it! been playing the game on and off for couple of years now its finally released :D
How do you test fire your ship and engines? I always see people doing it but I still have not figured it out.
This TH-camr convinced me to buy the game.

Nice video, has been years since I have played and would like to know how things work before starting
The game just came out as early access, are you a game tester for this game or something?
Just got the game 3 days ago. Your video helped a lot. You should do a video how to use the blueprint and why it’s better for building.
I am working on a basics of building right now, I'll make sure to include that.

You can even join the beta, for pvp multiplayer

The steam release really changed a lot! The beta was already pretty fun and a bit complicated, so I wonder how annoying it is now to play.
repeatedly saying "you know what i mean" in a guide is unhelpful
