Here is a nice tip for blending even easily oil pastels: take a colorless lipstick moisturizer and use a bit on your finger before you blend the pastels, it works like a dream! Loved the video Maia! Hugs from Portugal ❤❤❤❤❤

I use my watercolor sketchbook for swatching too. I do use a stencil so it kind of looks like the Painters Diary, but you can use a ruler too. I also purchased the Painters Diary and love it. I have the two pack in my Amazon cart lol

Now I see where you get your talent from 😂 your dad’s page was just beautiful to see ! I like that you just have fun with it ! The mixed media on a pages is amazing ! Some times I blend with paper stumps I find it easier than a tips . I also use cotton balls 😂❤

Oooh those Mungyo pastels are gorgeous. I think they definitely looked better after finger smudging, the water looked like it took pigment away.
I didn't realise there's 2 other sets of the black edition pencils, I've now added them to my wishlist, plus I've added that colour swatch book.

Because you have lots of wips do you have to keep notes of which pencils/pens/mediums your using for each one or do you just remember everyone? Xxx
Hi Trudy !!! Oh yes i agree i think ill use those oil pastels dry from now on, the water did seem to remove the pigment you’re right. About the wips, yes sometimes ill keep notes on a post it and put it on the page, especially with there is a repetitive element that i haven’t finished yet, but for the most part i don’t keep notes ill just pick up where i left off and use something else. Im not a perfectionist by any means and i wing it a lot , i know that if i mess something up i can always find a way to fix it !

Perhaps a blending stump instead of a q-tip? Longer and easier to hold…im one of those that doesn’t like my fingers dirty 😂 thank you for a wonderful video!

Thanks Maia ❣ I am like you I don't like to swatch either and I have some acrylic and water based markers I am procrastinating on the swatching . I can sketch also and have some framed pieces I have done in watercolor in my youth but I am now at the place I like nice coloring books more these days. Your dad's page is lovely. When I was young it was my high school art teacher that encouraged me, even gave me the art award at graduation, a nice memory. I used to do more forms of art but got into coloring books so that is where I am at now.
FWIW, I did an online search for oil pastel blending tools and saw on amazon some "Double Headed Blending Sponge Pens" that seemed would work for those of us who are not into using our finger to blend and probably better than q-tips I would guess. I read some reviews and saw some said they used them for oil pastels and they were favorable. The price was reasonable IMO.
I am of the type I prefer to finish a page and go on to the next though on some occasions I leave one and come back to it. Sometimes too I do a small piece if I tire of the big page I am coloring like an image from a "small victories" page or one of the images on a collage page in one of Rita Berman's books. 🎨🖌🖍🖊🎨

I also did many different forms of art over the years and when i was younger i had some awesome watercolor paintings and pencil drawings but they were lost in my parents garage fire 🔥. Anyway, wow those double headed sponge pens sound interesting ive never heard of them !! Ill have to look that up ! I too like coloring books more these days than any other art form, which is why i have this channel. So glad you discovered coloring its the best !! Thanks for watching and commenting ! Maia would love to see any completed pages or show you color in Sara muzio her I have difficulty envisioning how to color in the zen doodles. I have one of her books, blue fish and am thinking of de-cluttering it but wanted to at least get some inspiration to see if I can at least try and color one to see if I like it before I go ahead and de-clutter

I too have been pondering what is the best way to tackle sara muzio books and i have her book called enchanted forest and the elements are quite large, i was thinking about what to do !! You have given me a great idea for a video !! Maybe i can play around and try some things on camera and show you guys!! Its funny you have that book , its out of print now and i always wondered if i would like it haha. I will definitely try to tackle this question in the future for both of us !!

Hi !! Its the Coliro Pearlescent watercolors ! I have an unboxing video about them, i also have a video about where to use metallic watercolors on your page. That color i believe is Inca Gold. There is a gold set on Amazon i believe, that is where i got my gold set.
