Congrats Zach!, I bet that bird was facing away from you when you were first hearing him, then he heard you moving in on him and turned and gobbled facing right in your direction. Crazy how them turning on the limb changes how loud the gobble is. Can’t wait for the Virginia hunts. I was down and killed one the first day and second day on national forest. Good luck guys!
I like that Zack stays humble and always asks for the opinion of the cameraman on how to work a bird. Maine season starts May 3 (Youth Day on the 1st). Maine is 94% Private Land so we rely on the kindness of landowners for the most part up here.
I typically haven’t been denied permission on Posted Land, but it has happened. Some landowners want to keep the land and turkeys and deer to themselves and family and friends. Luckily we enjoy legal access to unposted property in Maine, although it’s an unwritten rule to ask permission anyhow. I live in the mid/coastal area that is rich with wild turkeys.

Best video I've seen in a while. Really shows what it's like to hunt public birds I grew up hunting Clark's hill and Redlands WMA in NE GA and that is exactly how it goes. Congrats on a great hunt.
I watch Dave Owens and THP pretty often at home. My wife, shares a name with Dave’s lady, looks up and sees Zach walking a ridge and says, “is that Courtenay?” Lol

You guys are probably already in VA but check out Jefferson National Forest and Cherokee National Forest, and then Great Dismal Swamp. They're on opposite sides of the state but a little 5 hour drive won't hurt! Haha

I really enjoy watching your channel. I am from WA. State and new to turkey hunting and because of your show I bagged my first gobbler on 4/15/2021. I only hunt public land. I used the Woodhaven THP Crystal Classic and the Ninja and called in 3 gobblers. The gobblers got weary around 40 yards out so I used the scratching of the leaves and a soft call with the Ninja and they committed to come in closer to 20 yards, BOOOOMM!!!.... I would have shot 2 but my shotgun jammed.... Thank You.
Never watched your show before. Awesome hunt. For some reason during turkey season, turkey hunting videos keep showing up on my TH-cam 😂. I tagged out this morning in North Carolina.
Just what I needed to know. Great spot and stalk. First time turkey hunting this spring. Possibly in the same neck of the woods you were in here. 15mins to Tallulah Gorge. While deer hunting there last season I couldn't keep the turkeys off of me. Not complaining, but man did I ever have some opportunities if they had been in season. Wish me luck.
The biggest part of turkey hunting is getting in between where he is and where he wants to go. It's dang near impossible to call a bird backwards from where he's going so you have to get in front of them and that's exactly what Zach did. Even though it took several mornings to figure him out you pulled it off perfect and never had to hit the call. Great Job!!
Some Turkeys here in SE WI have been strutting for a couple weeks now. I went out tonight to find a bird for the youth hunt in the morning and no luck finding a bird
