I am getting my G7 ThinQ refurbished as it is still doing its job very well. I have had Samsung, HTC phones before, but with this phone i have the best experience i ever had with a smartphone. New screen and battery in and happy days.
The primary reason to consider this phone is as an affordable dedicated music player. The 32-bit quad DAC was and is phenomenal (beating out all current-gen phones that still have a headphone jack while going toe-to-toe with dedicated "audiophile" devices), the microsd slot insures you can fit a ton of high quality music files, and though the Android version (up to 10) is outdated, it'll remain compatible with music streaming apps via the Play Store for long into the future. Considering just how expensive dedicated android music players are (walkman, fiio, etc), the G7 (and other LG phones with the quad DAC) is a steal.
Really though, internet connectivity is optional most of the time. Most streaming services let you download songs while on wifi for offline listening - that’s where cheap microsd storage comes in :)
Thats exactly what I do with my old G7. I have a galaxy s23 now and I prefer to use my G7 when I go on runs for the music quality. Plus it wont huts as bad if I happen to drop it. And you can pick one up brand new for like $200 even now.
@@matthewruta3715Mine works perfectly, for today the g7 is like a low mid-range phone. In fact, many new cell phones use the same processor and ram memory today. The advantage is that you have everything high-end, screen, materials and the best the audio DAC
its sucks knowing LG fell off the market i remember having the Stylo 2 i think with stylus pen which to me was ahead of its time and LG being the first to introduced the Knock Knock feature since LG left ive stuck w Samsung for now
I use a LG V20 in 2024, i actually enjoyed it and it still performs great even if it's from 2016. Never getting a Chinese phone again just sticking to LG and Samsung.
I have lg g7 One edition. It is getting updates from Google. It still has the boom design to use the case as a driver and the 32bit DAC. Nobody has these fidelity features on their current phones. Gonna cherish it for as long as I can. One edition has only one camera on front but it is a good one. One good lens with OIS is better than 3 mediocre cameras.
I'm thinking about switching back to my old LG G7 Thing, Sprint "made me" change to a 5G phone a while back and I just got the Revvl V+ 5G because it was free. Well, it's an awful phone, and I loved my G7 Thinq, so...should I be concerned about anything?
Still a great phone. Will use it as long as the battery holds up. So far still great after 5 years. Switched back to it after trying 6 months or so with an iPhone. Much prefer this phone and android period.🙃
I got the G7 in 2020 for free when my g6 had issues that were covered by a warranty. The battery life was always horrific. Now I only use the device for a music player when i go running but im lucky to get an hour and a half of music time on the g7. Its horrible.
I just replaced the battery by myself today. It's really easy & pretty quick to do. If you're careful & watch a couple of videos first, you can even do so without cracking the back glass cover. I had already ordered a cover because I hadn't watched any videos first & deliberately cracked the glass to get it out of the way.
@@jcewl93 Nice! I actually watched jerryrigeverything do a video on that. If I actually still used the device for something other than a running companion I would probably give it a try but I just got a Galaxy s23 for free from T-Mobile when I upgraded my plan. My bill only went up 10 bucks a month so I figured what the heck. And I love this s23.

Just bought today as secondry phone in $70 and its excellent device beautiful bright screen still petforms fast with snapdragon 845 and very good camera
The G7 can be had for $50 you cannot today buy a new phone with it's features for less than $400. It still in 2024 it's processor out performs all low end and most midrange phones. It's cameras are fantastic. The main camera has optical stabilization, it's actually 16mp (modern phone cameras claim 50mp+, but are more like 12mp), it shoots 4k 60fps, 1080p 60fps, 720p 240fps, it's waterproof, has NFC, has wireless charging. The build construction is very premium feeling and because of the all glass construction providing they aren't cracked G7s generally stay looking like new. Unlike OLED screens LCDs don't suffer screen burn so the screens look as good as the day they were made. You can root the phone and install Android 14 if you like and given the fast processer and 4gb of ram the G7 should be able to handle the next few versions of Android as well. I just ordered a Galaxy A14 5G to replace my G7 because the G7 lacks 5G and my version of G7 doesn't work with AT&T, but on almost every metric the G7 surpasses the Galaxy A14 G5. Because the resale value of the G7 is so low and it's cameras are so good I'll be keeping mine.
Still using mine but the battery is toast and the updates ended in 2021. The LCD screen is starting to show some shadows temporarily. Thinking about replacing the battery but I still need the OS upgrades. The apps still work but a few of them have failed and I need it secured by the OS.
I recently got a new phone and I want to factory reset my LG G7. Is it still possible to update the phone's OS after the reset with LG no longer making smartphones?
i bought this phone here in the philippines for Only $74 complete with box and accesories im using this phone for playing Mobile legends i can play in ultra settings for 3 1/2 hrs just set the screen to 720p for longer battery life
I upgraded my G7 to the Pixel 4a and i regret it. Battery life on the 4a was always trash so i kept swapping my SIM card to the G7 every now and then to not have to worry about battery life so much.
what about the practicality of buying this phone if the person i'm buying it for has very little need for it. he uses a flip phone and all he does is text and call which is limited to only 6contacts AND NOTHING ELSE. i'm talking BASIC basic use. the main reason i'm even getting this phone is the price($80) to use as a "pay as you go" for t-mobile. no music, no internet, not even any need for any apps,,,except maybe a speed dial app, and the basic stuff on any phone, like calendar, or note taking
Its so funny to see this. I love LG phone. I have been using my LGG5 all this time, but it stopped updated a few years ago, I was on Android 8 but didn't care. That was the main thing I love. I like the fingerprint on the back of the phone but oh well. Im trying to find the best case right now, the Otterbox doesn't have the plastic on screen like before so now i dont know what to get. Any suggestions from anyone please. I need a case and I would like a wireless charging pad that also can charge my reg devices at the same time. Thank you so much for your reviews. Its sad when a phone we love like LG stops making them. I have tendonitis in my hands so the LG was perfect with no physical buttons, plus fingerprint turn on and knock knock screen.
