      this is the ThinQ (LArge version of the G7). you think the "regular" sizes G7 will have better battery life?
      cheers

      I haven't heard of other versions of the G7. ThinQ isn't related to battery AFAIK, every flagship LG phone going forward will be ThinQ branded

      and isn't the back of the phone gorrilla glass 5? that can't even be scratched with a razor blade so i think those micro scratches you were talking about can be wiped off.

      Matthew Jardine Watching this on the LG G7 ThinQ!!! This phone is amazing!!! Definitely worth it over the Galaxy S9!!! I had see man reviews and I was skeptical because most reviewers gave it an "ok", but I'm glad I bought it through T-Mobile's BOGO deal! The raspberry rose color looks amazing! Everything about this phone is a step up from the G6. Even battery life! Which is why I wish they would've left the battery at 3,300mAh. But I'm sure it was a design compromise to make the INCOMPARABLE SOUND of the BOOMBOX speaker come to life!!! For once I feel like a have a PREMIUM quality phone since the G4!!! Great job LG!!! And ThinQ (lol) Marton for this review!!! 😍😍😍

      I hate OLED. Wears out fast and usually comes with a built in tint :) if it doesn't, 4 months of heavy use will do. I see this on every Samsung or whatever OLED device. LCD is so much more durable, basically doesn't wear out ever.

    I do not really understand why anyone would want glass on the back of their phone. For me, a phone should be able able to handle a few toss across the table or room without concerning me; metal over glass anyday

    • @frankniethardt1813

      Qi charging... alternative to glass is plastic, what isn't great either.

      Akash K Hazarika Wireless charging.
      Which I don’t use personally and yeh I’m of the same opinion about glass. Their still so relatively fragile for me.

    • @chetanashish
      @chetanashish 6 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Metal phones are bad at absorbing shock if struck at an angle. They just pass on the shock onto the fragile parts

    Unfortunately LG is as always: they release good smartphones but not the best ones so these smartphones become part of the huge amount of smartphones out there

    • @allenqueen
      @allenqueen 6 ปีที่แล้ว +43

      David you can't really point out a '' best'' in today's smartphone market. Every phone satisfies different things. You want fast updates-pixel. You want the ecosystem - iphone. You want price/performance - oneplus. You want bloat-Samsung(ok, I'm sorry, i couldn't help myself. But yea, Samsung is good if you need high budget android with a headphone jack).
      You can basically never go wrong with any of these phones. Whether it translates to sales, is the company's worry. No. Of products sold never say anything about the quality.

    • @xerzy
      @xerzy 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      At least you can go to Amazon and check how much they drop prices... only reason why I'm considering buying them at all, lol

    • @davidandresduenas3326
      @davidandresduenas3326 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Kakashi Hatake I understand your point, but I'm talking about the LG smartphones, lately these ones do not stand out and become just another model of the huge amount available, of course in the smartphone market there's a kind of specialization as you said, some smartphones offer design, other battery life and so on and others just become cheaper and cheaper due to a little of people want to buy them like this one (of course if we consider other smartphones)

    • @jarenong
      @jarenong 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How do i say this. LG is just not a cool brand. Samsung would have been equally uncool as LG, i mean their name Samsung sounds horrible but they have a massive marketing campaign ever since the Galaxy S2. So through spending a shit ton of money they managed to be perceived as somewhat cool.

    • @MrUnkownGuyAC
      @MrUnkownGuyAC 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agree with BTICronox here. In my opinion LG is the best of the standard phones. It is not shit, but at the same time it is not oversaturated with features (although the notch and the AI camera is the exception, however they can be hidden).
      Also, LG over Samsung's bixby.

    Yeah...a really good job... I got to totally agree about glass backed phones it makes no sense at all. I thought Nokia did it best back in the day with the polycarbonate that didn't show scratches because the color was all the way through the material... And I'm waiting on that Nokia 7 plus review.. I've gone down and played with it a couple of times at the store and I would say the only thing that kind of bugs me is the external speaker.

    • @CaritoBurgues
      @CaritoBurgues 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      jonah travisano I've Heard that there are many "little issues" around that Nokia. Specially when you are about to buy a 400$ phone you expect to have better quality in many ways. If you are a Spanish speaking person you can check Deivid Morganson's review

    • @mahdicloete5343
      @mahdicloete5343 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i also saw a lot of complaints about nokia software... video and audio getting out of sync and another thing that bothers me is that the n7 plus has a huge battery but doesn't perform as well as expected. the xa2 ultra lasts longer with a smaller screen and they both have an soc from the same gen and the same screen size

    • @spriteqcx0
      @spriteqcx0 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I honestly don't see how glass backs are a big deal at all. Plastic phones feel cheap and I honestly can't stand having a $800 plastic device. Doesn't feel premium at all. As you can see in my other comments on this video, I've had a G6 that was beaten up to hell. Constantly dropped it on concrete and hardwood floors while holding it, constantly slipped out of my pockets while sitting down and slammed almost everyday into the ceramic floor of my kitchen when i sat down to eat. That never cracked it. What cracked it (and we're talking about a very minor crack that can only be seen in bright light at a certain angle) was when i fell from my board while speeding down the street and the phone went flying out of my pockets, slammed on the street full of pebbles and knocked into the sidewalk across the street. That was a pretty brutal fall and it barely had any noticeable damage. I just put a skin on it and it was like brand new. Now i have the G7 and with all the "ThinQ" and LG branding on the back, i feel like it's almost mandatory to skin this phone. The skin protects the glass back and absorbs the shocks so it's even safer. This really is not a big deal in any circumstances in my opinion. If you're going to crack the back of this phone, you're going to crack the screen of a plastic/aluminium phone anyway.

    I just don’t get why mobile phone companies absolutely go for phones with glass shells. They make them stronger than normal glass, but it’s still glass. I don’t mind a phone with aluminium backs if it’s better and more protective.

    • @redvivid
      @redvivid 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The phone isn't any less stronger than a phone that's completely aluminum. Glass is way more rigid than you would assume. Maybe not "shatter proof" but the glass is also as much of a structural benefit (if not MORE) than just aluminum (which is a soft metal and does bend and dents easily).

    In case if anyone's asking, the speaker is louder when placed in the table, because LG has made the space between the frame of the motherboard, and the glass back a 'resonance' chamber which echoes the sound of the speaker to vibrate the back glass and hence vibrate any solid surface you lay it on, hence enhancing the loudness of its audio.

    i liked your review. you are not in a rat race, just to negate a phone coz everybody is doing so, you were practical in your analysis. i think only weak point of lg g7 is its battery. if it was 3500mah then everybody would have been talking abt this ph. camera is not as good as competition, but not at all a bad camera. otherwise lg has tick marked all the plus aspects of a cell ph on g7.

  • @stiviajazi

    I really used to like LG, and this is actually a solid offering, but on amazon the S9 goes for 560€. That is an amazing phone at an amazing price. Consider that people would like 9/10 times great auto photos rather than perfect manual mode photos for example. I mean the S9 is the best all arounder and scores amazingly in the most important aspects that a smartphone has. I think that people nowadays buy Oneplus or Huawei as a (unjustifiable) sign of rebellion against Samsung, because the reality is that they cost more,the same or just a little less but definitely are not on as good as the S9

    I just got it. I replaced my Galaxy s7 with the g7. As you said in the video, it is cheaper now it has been out for a while. So far I absolutely love it. It has all the things that matter to me most. Great sound, decent internal storage and is water resistant. Far as cameras go they work plenty good enough for me. I have a minimal gel case on mine so it does not slip. Out of your hand very easily. I don't cary an unprotected phone with me. For the money, you can't beat it,

    Great review - thanks. I once had a G4 and the camera was really great (especially before a software update removed the ability to launch directly into manual mode...). It seems that LG kind of went backwards a bit in terms of camera sensor size after that....prioritising other elements of the camera experience and the phone dimensions. The G5 definitely had a smaller sensor, and a friend of mine went from G4 to G6 and assured me his G4 took much better photos! Not sure why all manufacturers seem to be obsessed with making phones as thin as possible.... Bring back chunky phones and max out the sensor sizes (I'm thinking Lumia 1020 and Nokia 808...)!!

    Very good review. As an LG user (Currently G5) I find myself drawn to their phones even when I believe their are better products (Pixel) available. This phone seems a good attempt, but I believe LG would be better served adding OLED and dropping the V series. It would consolidate their rather small cell phone sales under a single product. And I think premium phone sales are about to flat-line since flagships have become so high end.

    very good review right on the main pros and cons. I have seen many reviews on G7 and this review is very good. You could make the video to be better understandable.

    I really think you need just a bit of animation in your intro. Just a touch of motion could do wonders I think. The lifelessness of your new intro is the only thing which makes me prefer the old one. Thanks for the video, I'm always excited to see stuff from you!

    Greatvreview btw...There are so many video samples now comparing the camera to others and for video unfortunately the colors are intolerable imo as an example if you look at videos of an ocean where it is naturally green the LG displays it as blue or teal which is horrible and that alone is a deal breaker otherwise I'd buy this phone...how can they screw up the colors so much is beyond me..

    Just picked it up for €400 from Germany. My LG G5 died at the weekend. It looks like 3 years is the lifespan of a phone. Love the interface of lg. Hopefully the g7 will be just as good.

    I have to agree with you regarding the glass build on this device. This is something I did not like about the LG v30 which I found to be very fragile considering it was marketed as being a durable phone. I've always found it strange that companies build beautiful devices with amazing color and finishes yet they're so fragile you have to cover them up with an ugly case right away to be able to use them in the real world. Other than that I really like the LG G7 because it's a niche device that's not so common and I for one do you use the wide-angle lens and love listening to music with headphones on it

    You really don't need to be an audiophile to appreciate the remarkable improvement the ESS DAC provides in audio quality over any other smartphone. Plus the haptics on this phone are incredible and the wide angle camera is a really nifty addition.

    Hi there. I do have a question if you could help? I switched from a G4 that I loved to a Galaxy S8 (with a Banggood special inbetween!).
    I miss my G4 as it was brilliant, looked and felt great but it just can't keep up with today's performance, and I'm not really a fan of my S8. Do you think that the G7 would be a step forward or step back from my S8? Thanks!

    I have nothing against notches, but I really like the look here with the notch blacked out. Looks like the clock etc is outside the actual display. IF it had been a proper AMOLED that is :P

    I swear manufacturers are in the business of trying to nix every feature I prefer in phones. The IR blasters are gone, the metal bodies are gone, most phones don't have front facing speakers, the removable backs are gone. There's not much left on new smart phones I love.

    Why the LG G7 is showing scratches on the screen or back? It's supposed to have Gorilla Glass on both sides (scratch resistant). Is there a flaw on the material?

  • @allenqueen
    @allenqueen 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think in 2018, you can't really go wrong with a phone. You can buy basically any phone, and be happy with it as long as it works. I suggest a mid range flagship spec-d phone, like the OP6 or this one, when the price comes down. Good times to be a smartphone buyer. Bad times for tech enthusiasts though, with the lack of innovation in the industry, but then again, smartphones have pretty mucj reached their limit in bringing new stuff on the table without lookong gimmicky.

    After having a very bad experience with my G4 only a year and a half in I changed my stance on LG phone drastically.
    The phone didn't receive updates including security patches,and it seemed like my phone was hacked for some reason, my app lock got a lot of random triggers for my banking app(which was in a folder so it wasn't an accidental click) and when I saw this I also locked WhatApp and observed the phenomena for a little bit after determining it was highly suspicious and the apps that got triggerd were ones with value in them I factory reset the phone and started looking into options for rooting it.
    After doing research for about a week I determined that it can not be done since the boot loader unlock tool didn't work for my variant of the phone and community made tools were also unavailable because there was an official tool that covered 90+% of the phones on the market...
    I tried mailing or calling LG and all I got was either a no or automatic messages.
    (and yes the problem did return after a day on me using the phone for 2-3 days a lot of seemingly random triggers to "apps of value" in this case only WhatsApp since I didn't install anything important)
    I bought a new phone and haven't looked back since...

    I had couple of LG phones and now I considering to switch to Samsung. It is not my favorite brand, but when Samsung get rid of physical home button Galaxy phones become appealing for me. I am just not sure if I am ready to spend ~800E for S9+

    I'm long time G6 user and fan of your channel so I know you stopped using LG and went for Nokia instead. May I ask why? My G6 got white spots on the display so I sent it to service under warranty and pray they'll just give me money back instead of replacement unit. In that case I'm thinking about getting G7 which can be found for under 350€ in my country and for that price it's basically competing with Poco which is far worse phone. But if Nokia is better I might think about their phones as well.

    Just purchased this phone, your video is excellent, now to what you hate...slippery...does anyone have a recommended cover/case for this phone that doesn't cover buttons? Thanks

  • @bearmugs1408
    @bearmugs1408 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ok. If you find the slipperiness annoying, put a grippy case like silicone or rubber, or one with grips. But you may say, I love this colour so much. Get a transparent case! Problem solved, better phone
