Seeing the latest seasons, Jake has really kept his word. Whenever there's a problem on the boat out at sea, Jake is there in the engine room soaking in sweat, seawater, and oil.
He's a captain I'd be proud to work for and work hard for just to not see him fail because when he fails, the whole boat fails. A true leader.
The amount of people below who don't get that Sig is messing around with Jake is too damn high.
The amount of people that think captain should paint the boat or work in engine room is also too high, non of them spent day on sea and they don't get that captain on boat is not like boss or mennager, its damn law, you do as comanded.
People are comenting: "I would not listen captain like Sig barking orders at me" like you have any other option than obeying orders😂
To me it shows he cares that he works on his boat and is willing to do the low end work despite being in charge. Worth 1000% more then some dude barking orders from a chair.
This proves dreams can come true
Sig and Edgar taught that "clown" everything he knows and that moment there is a pinnacle for the three.

Jake is a new generation captain doing it his own way. And honestly his way is way better than the old generation. I’ve been a crabber for 6 years and I’d work for Jake any day of the year. I wouldn’t work for any captain tho. Like I’d never work for sig for example. He’s a horrible captain. Great family man and great fisherman himself. But if you’re not related to him you’d never wanna work for him.
And I wouldn't let a "Capitan" from another ship dip my Capitan in the water.
Jake is the kind of captain to roll his sleeves up and get down an dirty with the crew I respect him and any manager like that over the ones that just want to speak an think people will do it.
Sig is John Dutton, Jake is Casey. Sig gets the job done at the cost of everyone else. Jake would rather fail than risk people's lives and cares for all his workers.

@@tylerd1463 I’ve met Jake a handful of times in Dutch Harbor. I haven’t actually met sig but I’ve seen him and he without question has a reputation for being one of the most difficult captains to work for. Jake is still building his reputation obviously but no one can say anything bad about him. There’s plenty of bad things you can say about almost every captain but everyone in the community loves Jake. We definitely love sig too, he’s a amazing man and a hell of a fisherman. You’d just never want to work for him unless your last name is Hansen.
people take this too seriously its just a bit of hazing/welcoming their new fellow capt into the fleet. Its all a bit of fun from old season relax people

Unlike sig jake worked from the bottom to the top without daddy's handouts. That would make sig even more bitter.
Yeah, his daughter worked two weeks in an opie Season. But i think she's done a lot of salmon and herring seasons, but thats not even close to crab.

lmao they are friends outside of the "tv show" and Sig I am sure helped him more than you know. Dont read into the soap opera this show has become. The first three seasons were very good after that they "plan" things a bit.
I know it's been said but this really does put into perspective why crab and lobster are so expensive.
im a lobster fisherman and they pay us the least for doing the hardest work. middle man gets the dough and we get blamed for whale entanglements when its not us. its not right.

Seeing this now is sort of devastating now that the Saga is up for sale. Jake was co-owner yes along with the majority owner, who had problems with his taxes. I heard through the YT Grapevine Jake is skipper on another boat at the moment.
Why do the crab have to be clean if u don't eat the shell? Do the crab not taste great???
It lowers the price when the boats offload if a bunch aren’t clean. If you buy a whole king crab and it’s covered in crap most wouldn’t pay the same. Plus the offload weight could be penalized with the buyers taking off some weight to make up for all the extra stuff that isn’t crab and the crab are generally healthier when clean.

In the army they teach us to lead from the front.
I was never in the service but I've always had the best performing crews as im always with them, always working, always working right next to my guys from top to bottom. Not doing their work for them but showing them what it takes to Excell and perform. Then I can expect them to perform and expect them listen to me. The crews with the highest turnover have barkers for the boss.
Question to any expert crabbing fishermen out there……how do the guys grab those crabs so fast without getting pinched by there claws? In Florida, I did on shore blue crab fishing and got pinched on my thumbnail and it hurt like f_cking hell snd my nail turned black n’ blue. And those were crab a little bigger than my hand. They have powerful claws. The crab these guys are catching are giant in comparison. How are they never getting pinched?!🤷♂️😐
He should have just renamed it. The new paint job looks good, but I still think of the ex-captain/current inmate Elliott Neese when I see the name "SAGA" on the boat.

Super glad I don't watch this show. It's his boat he can do what he wants only reason other captains are made is because they don't want to the small things around the boat the captain points and they do. Sad to see a young captain get picked on in front of his crew. I would be furious being disrespected by someone who runs another ship.
