I totally understand that these Unicron Trilogy designs are not for everyone. But this right here was the transformers of my childhood. They were basically my version of G1. So the fact that we have a 3rd party company producing Unicron Trilogy figures makes me so happy
Although this figure does absolutely nothing for me personally, it is nice to see 3P addressing the potentials from a different continuity. And this is coming from a G1 collector.

The funny thing is hastak has a design for armada prime shelved at the moment from a couple years back. It was shown off with the star convoy prototype well the main robot anyway and we know from what you can see it has the super mode torso mode. At the time they couldn’t decide whether to generations it or mp it which is a shame. Hopefully we’ll see it at some point.
I used my absolute ape-like strength to open the core bot's legs (so to speak) for the combined mode and absolutely tore off the right leg at the hip... Fanshobby sent me an entirely new right leg and hip skirt for free. Great company. Sad the initial release (and 2nd...) had problems, but they really did a good job on replacements.
Great review! That clear mystery piece is a replacement for the eyes if you want to use the LED lights. Also he does have an ab crunch, but it’s way too tight. I normally disconnect and reconnect the two parts to use it.
So this doesn’t help for the review as it’s already done but you can use the super mode head to keep those grey panels out while you secure the shoulders in place. There is also an ab crunch but it’s very tight to use.
The base was pretty common in the Armada cartoon, so I understand why its here. No idea why the minicon is the way it is. It doesn't even look accurate.
Interesting figure. It sure does a lot, but all that kibble in the super robot mode is a real eyesore. But on another note, glad John Garringer is still around - he's a good guy.
Most of that kibble was on the actual robot in the series. If anything, RiD started the whole kibble transformations, but Armada did better to streamline it a bit. Better than the voodoo they did in the original G1 and Beast Wars...
I've been out of the 3rd party and transformers collecting game but this one might bring me back since it's something different than everything else that's out there. Also loved playing a ps1 game with a nephew based on this continuity
I'm not going to kid, I got really nervous with this review. It has had several replacement parts offered for it due to breakage. One of the large trailer flaps tore off of mine right out of the box. Congrats on not breaking it. I think everyone should take a moment to appreciate that. I was really surprised that you didn't speak on the plastic quality. Some areas feel like "dollar store" quality to me. Great job Bobby.
Bigger head looks like it has a light gimmick there was something that looked like a small button on top and the clear replacement piece is probably ment to replace the eyes for more light to pass thru.
Be careful what you wish for. Once everything becomes beholden to your treasured crap cartoon, competition dies out. Then you will whine about how nobody is making the things you want anymore.

Gold eyes? Yup, that's indeed anime accurate. Gold hands on the small robot mode aren't accurate (they're supposed to be silver), but I don't think that any iteration of the original Micron Legend/Armada toy got it right, either; some versions seem to have the colors swapped with the small robot having gold (or even unpainted blue) hands and the Super Mode having silver. 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️ I personally don't care about this design, but the small robot is pretty badass lookin'. If Fans Hobby were to ever decide to just sell the base figure & gun separately, I may be inclined to get that. (Seriously, of the three Unicron Trilogy designs, the only one for Optimus I actually like is the one from Galaxy Force/Cybertron...) Also, they took some massive liberties with the Micron/Minicon; the robot mode ain't even accurate to the original toy, let alone the anime. And let's be thankful that they ain't done Armada Jetfire, aka Super Optimus's Pants...I don't see that turning out well at all.
Just a few things I noticed through the video I wanted to point out 1. The translucent piece you were unsure about is a spare set of super mode eyes that better let the LED through 2. The windshield design is, I believe, emulating the IR sensor from the original leader class toy from Armada, since that had an auto transforming base gimmick. 3. The "extended trailer mode" you display around the 10 minute mark is, to my knowledge, entirely original. The original toy only had the trailer, the full base, and the leg modes, and the cartoon didn't make any tertiary mode up so if this had any basis in, say, Dreamwave or a manga, I'm uncertain, but otherwise it's all FH 4. Few corrections for base mode: the darker gray struts for the missiles are backwards, they have a cutout that fits over the top of the little arch that they plug into, and this one wasn't in the instructions, but there are small white legs you can fold out just above the robot mode heel, on the blue panel you folded over from trailer mode 5. Gold eyes are sorta accurate, he had more of a bright canary yellow eye color in the anime and toy 6. You missed a slight ab crunch in the core bot, one click on a ratchet forward and back both 7. The smokestacks can come off of his arms and either plug into the second holes on the sides of the truck for an anime accurate appearance, or be held as guns in homage to the single joined pistol they made on the leader figure 8. The matrix can be removed and Sparkplug can hold it, hence the trenches in his fist. 9. The super mode knee pads slide up so they don't collpase back in all the time, much like his core robot knees 10. The ears are meant to stay flared out, rather than swept back, only doing so to fit in the cab when in truck or core robot 11. His super mode arms have a ratcheted rotation below the elbow 12. The ab crunch is weird but present. The cradle the truck locks into slides back and forth almost like a pendulum motion, rather a regular hinge forward. 13. The original did indeed have a back skirt of sorts, though it wasnt split and flared out as FH does. Was more of a waist cape than anything
This is one of those that I kinda want because I've been watching the Japanese originals--the way to go btw for Car Robots and Unicron Trilogy--and I just want some good representation of them. That said, I've kinda become one that's decided MP scale stuff just isn't my bag much anymore, and this looks hella unenjoyable to get through.
Good review. I like Fans Hobby figures, so I was just interested in seeing how this one was done. Definitely not a figure for me, but it looks nice and looks like a solid build, well excluding the minicon. I don't understand why they wasted their time on that figure. The Prime truck mode looks cool and the robot mode for that is cool as well. The grill on the chains reminded me of 86 Galvatron with the Matrix around his neck...lol. Anyways. I was wondering what the piece that fell off at 27:23 in the review. I figured you would mention what that was. I guess it wasn't anything.
9:54 Yeah, I can't recall ever seeing that before. Definitely not anything you could do on the original toy. Of course, the original toy had completely unmovable super-mode legs because of the battery-powered auto-transformation gimmick, but yeah, I'm pretty sure this is just something FH made up for a little extra value... unless it was something done in the Dreamwave comics.

I really want to get this toy I always wanted the original, but its just a brick figure. I really hope this company does a few repaints This color might not be for me but if they did a shattered glass version or one of the many toy version the original mold had I'll be in for it. I'm excited to see the Overload (shoulder gun guy) and Jetfire (the pants in combine mode) come out for this guy I hope its stable and looks amazing. Great video as always keep up the amazing work.
You would be better off getting a Magic Square or NewAge carbot instead of this Minicon. I mean, it’s not my cartoon, Armada, and I hate the whole Minicon idea in the first place, but it’s a big part of the whole series, so you expect it to shine, not blow :/
The smaller robot mode actually does have a waste swivel that you missed. There are grey tabs on either side of the waist that you pull out to unlock the swivel. Just have to remember to relock them when going into the combined mode otherwise his arms might rotate clean off, lol. EDIT: whoops, didn't know that got covered during the second transformation. My bad.
Have you watched the review, I mean really watched it not just cruised it in autopilot?!!! If your answer to this question is no (and let me assure you I already 100% know it's no) you should abstain from commenting about what Mr. Skullface missed or didn't miss. Ironically, I’ve been watching armada. Or at least picking and choosing episodes with good battles. I some of the designs from the show i wouldn’t mind in a MP scale and quality but this ain’t it for me. At least it didn’t catch on fire like the original toy

One of my best third party Primes, if not the best. I was surprised Bobby did a review on it, hopefully he will do their up and coming Armada Megs.

Im a huge Armada fan. But this just doesnt look enough like the show. The hasbro teased optimus looks way closer and better.

I was so excited for this figure and was let down when it lasted like two days and then everything started to break on it

I got some replacement parts for free after reaching out on Facebook. After a month of having it, nothing else has broken.
