par pitié, qu'il ne soit jamais une inspiration pour quiconque veut jouer de la batterie. Hâché, bêta, sans inspiration, sans technique, sans groove, sans feeling. Tout est si téléphoné. Surtout que personne ne joue jamais comme lui... Deux semaines d ebatterie et on fait mieux !

You can tell he really loved to play the jumping jive swing he grew up with, and the Stones were a bit of a hindrance to that but it paid the bills, so he made the best of it. What a great drummer! As a colourist, he was in a class of his own....
He would not say the Stones or Jazz were unrelated....he believed it was the same.

GREAT!!.. Good musicians adapt to any circumstance because they enjoy what they do. No matter the setting, the number of people or if the instrument is old (it is appreciated when they are good and of good quality of course), but if the moment is improvised they play with the skill that characterizes them. You just have to see Charlie here! ⚘💖

El fallecimiento de Charlie Watts no solo pone de luto un agosto aún pandémico, sino sobre todo dice adiós a una manera de vivir y sentir el rock y, sobre todo, un modo de vivir de un modo coherente. Se incorporó a los Rolling Stones en enero de 1963, donde Keith Richards, Mick Jagger y Brian Jones estaban ya dándole forma
Cuando hace un par de semanas se anunció que el batería no iba a acompañar a sus compañeros de los Rolling Stones en la anunciada gira por Estados Unidos en los próximos meses, no se llegó a concretar el tipo de operación al que se había sometido. Watts fue tratado previamente por cáncer de garganta en 2004, y un año después se rompió varias costillas y el brazo en un accidente automovilístico en Niza.
A Charlie Watts siempre se le asociará a tres elementos: el primero, más importante y obvio es haber formado parte a una de las dos bandas más trascendentales de la música popular, como son los Rolling Stones, con el añadido fundamental de que aún siguen en activo, a diferencia de los Beatles.
La segunda es que mantuvo y patentó en cierta manera un modo de tocar la batería que rompía el cliché de la espectacularidad, la grandiosidad y el efectismo consustanciales a muchos de los grandes nombres del rock. Su toque era a menudo sucinto, siempre eficaz y refractario al protagonismo gratuito.
Y tercero, esa misma contención la transmitía a la imagen exterior, ejerciendo de voluntario/involuntario contrapunto dentro la parafernalia de parte de la banda en sus épocas de mayor efervescencia y escaparatismo. Y se acabó convirtiendo en una de las marcas de la casa, que ayudó a su longevidad

Well, depends how narrow your definition of jazz is. In any case, Charlie did love and play what you would probably consider “real” jazz. I think he made a tribute album to Charlie Parker, if that satisfies what you call jazz.
