When Keith and Mick were feuding in the late 80's ,and Keith formed the Wino's,he was asked if he was worried about performing without Mick.He said no,but he was very afraid of playing without Charlie.

Charlie Watts was never the most flashy drummer. He wasn't known for the frenzied solos of Cream's Ginger Baker, or for placing explosives in his kick drum like The Who's Keith Moon. Instead, he was the subtle, stoic heartbeat of The Rolling Stones for almost 60 years. We all Brazilian fans will miss Charlie. RIP 🇧🇷

'Wild Horses' was the final song the Stones would attempt in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. But as the band prepared to begin recording, pianist Ian Stuart calmly packed up to leave. Memphis pianist Jim Dickinson was then recruited. It wasn't until years later that Dickinson discovered the reason behind Stewart's disinterest in 'Wild Horses'. Stu had always hated minor chords. And the song contains minor chords. Even when playing live with the band on tour the committed Boogie Woogie man would regularly engage in an act of perverse defiance, lifting his hands from the keys whenever a minor chord came up. "He was an extreme dude", says Dickinson. "He kept them honest. There was no bullshit when Ian was around."
Witnesses to sessions would come away astonished at the rank amateurism of the Stones in the studio, where they were capable of showing little more expertise than the newest band of nobodies working on their worthless demo tapes. But that recklessness was essential to the Stones process.
"I've virtually based a career around what I learned in those three days," Dickinson says with a laugh. "It was so organic and natural, you just had to stop and think, 'Who's right and who's wrong here?' And they literally didn't have a clue as to what they were doing. They were making a record the way people off the street will come in and make a record."
"They were the worst bloody band on the planet, the worst bunch of musicians in the world they could be for days at a time. Really fucking horrible. And you sit there wondering how on earth are we going to get anything out of this. They would play very badly, and that's how they played most of the time, very poorly, and out of tune... They were the worst band on the planet, BUT, when IT happened, they were transformed almost instantly from this dreadful band into THE ROLLING STONES, and blow you away. It was almost magical." - Andy Johns, recording engineer ♫

Some of the best fun with performing arts is had out ofthe public gaze, just mucking around, jamming etc, like this, in old clothes in some shed or garage or back room etc. Watchingdancers doing this type of thing is great, too, intheir raggy old clothes, unwashed, hair a mess, all sweaty... Ballerinas carrying on like this, just warming up, going through the moves, cigarette hangingout of their mouth as they do impossible stretches, splits etc, taking a few munches from a chocolate bar, to keep the energy up... Some even wearing their favourite football team's guernsy andlong sox and shorts... But, despite the appalling attire and greasy dirtyhair, sweatdripping off them, etc, they still look so passionate and sexy, artistically...Ioften saw painters or photographers asking the studio operator for permissionto sketch or photograph them in this very natural state. Theycouldn't understand why visual artists wanted to draw or photograph them like tis, rather than on stage, all polished up, in their fine stage costumes etc.

I have just one questions for any and all of you who have been Stones freaks since the late 60s early 70s, why are we all still in grief over Mick Taylor leaving? It was like the JFK assassination of music! Myself, I am still in shock and grief, I grieve for all of those virtuoso leads that never had the chance to live. I have come to the sad conclusion that he isn't coming back, MT was the piece that was needed, a perfect fit, Keith's chuggin' rhythms on that see thru Gibson just underneath MT's soaring solos on that gorgeous 1969 cherry red SG, it was heaven sent and hellbent, and then he was gone, I bet I know how it happened, his ball & chain was probably constantly constant with her panties in a twist because he didn't get credit for Sway or credit for Moonlight mile, after hearing her spit vinegar over it for who knows how long, he made the break for her, then she left him. It happens every time. FYI - Did you know that it is Mick taylor who plays bass on Fingerprint file? Yep twas
