David, if u can reach out to the Dong Il Jang restaurant owners who also had to shut down and encourage them to write a cookbook, that would be awesome. These were the tastes many of us in K-town grew up with. Beverly Soon Tofu was a weekly trip for us along with HanBat Seollungtang & Hoban as well as the many Chinese-Korean restaurants, up & down Olympic Blvd, that catered to the entire community of too busy parents, living that immigrant life. These recipes should be recorded and recognized as part of the history of Korean immigration. And having moved away from that center, as many of us eventually do, recipes would surely be appreciated not only as memories but so that they can be spread to other communities. I snapped up this book so quickly. TY to Monica for feeding so many of us through the years!
My parents would eat at her restaurant or do takeout at least once a week. I remember her beautiful restaurant with thatched roof and feeling like you were in the old country. Her food was a respite from the toil of immigrant work life-to be able to get a taste of what you left behind-in the middle of Ktown chaos- was just heaven. Miss the restaurant and her warm greetings.
This video is INVALUABLE. Thank you for having a beautiful family on here with such a treasured recipe. It was like learning a recipe from family 🥲
We loved having Monica and her daughters share their amazing family recipes!! We’ll be sharing her bok choy kimchi recipe soon!

Dave acting so sweetly with the ladies. Wonderful! He didn't even have to throw a knife at anyone!!
lol…it’s always a win to avoid the knife throwing or cutting board fires!
