converting a multi-gear bike to single speed, without changing the freewheel and chain. ... please to watch other video's in playlist Blore days: • Blore days
I actually have a spare freewheel and am in a situation where 'well, money's tight so.... 'Eh use the deraileur as a chain tensioner, the old shifter cable used to keep the thing ligned up how I want it instead of just jamming the h limit screw in place. Sure the weight savings won't be nearly as great but this is kindof a temporary setup til I get everythign else resolved. I mean 'I have a bike here right now the weathe'rs kinda nice. Fine it won't be doing the thigns I want it to do but like.... It will be rideable RIGHT NOW.' And again the dude from india for the freaking win. Thanks man 👍 Appreciate the insight.
@@TwoWheelFreedom-1 Update: Had to add a bit of scavanged wire from a woven wire fence (scrap) behind the freewhee to get a proper chainline. Before even with two freewheels worth of spacers the chain kept dropping. That added two and a half milimeters has turned it into a fairly stable experiance. There's been ONE chai ndrop and i was able to get it back on without moving the wheel and havne't had it drop ince. Granted it's light riding, but that's riding i wouldn't have been able to do otherwise.
Hello and thank you for this video, very informative, I didn't know you can do it! I have one question, please tell me where I can find the spacer you put at 1:42? Can you buy it online? What phrase should is search? How many spacers do I need?
I suggest putting some subtitles because I didn't understand anything (probably because he was speaking a different language), but other than that this was a helpful video.
I have the same freewheel, I might try this one (if I find a decent single speed tensioner). So you used the spacers between cogs from an old freewheel to another one and position the one plate on the most outer one to be locked with the lock ring? IT would be nice to show how it sits on the bike too, how it works when actually riding. But that's a really good idea!
@@TwoWheelFreedom-1 super bro, thanks for the reply. Would you prefer changing it to gear or apadiye vitudalama? Which is better and what’s your suggestion?
for a freehub just get a 2mm metal, laser cut to desires teeth and stack it uh with spacers on either side to maintain chain line and finish it with of a good old cassette lockring.
If you're going single speed it's better to get a purpose made freewheel, but if you have an old freewheel laying around 'might as well put it to use.'
@@singletona082 "real" single speed freewheels will have a really bad chainline, unless you move axle spacers and redish your wheel. This technique allows you to get good chainline
@@TwoWheelFreedom-1 But I want to replace just the cog, not the freewheel, because my freewheel has spacing and I can't replace it for another, I have to disassemble it and put a new cog
Can be done bro, you'll need few tools and practices. and correct size replacement balls, but you can't find the cog seperately, u'll get only with freewheel, so you have to break 2 to fix 1 freewheel.
Didn't understand what he said but he still helped more than any of the American builders with there fancy freehub bikes
❤️ thanks
great video didnt understand a word but self explanitory
Thanks bro.
👍
Didnt understand language but helped lots. Thanks brother! 🤗

Instead of adding a scrap wire you can add metal BB spacers it would be tight in its position.
@@TwoWheelFreedom-1 Mostly a case of 'use what was on hand' and that was on hand.
Cool
U sir are a genius! The Indian MacGyver of Bicycles lol
thanks.
a few years back I'd tried to make my freewheel single speed ..wish I saw this video then lol. @@TwoWheelFreedom-1

This is a great idea. I thought about cutting all the sprockets that I dont use . Basically I only use the one with 11 teeth. I have sram freewheel.
I don't know how to disassemble sram freewheel, probably all freewheel is almost same designe, have to figure out. Good luck with that
Yeah I wanna do the same to my 7speed megadrive, can't figure out how to get the bugger apart 🤔
I guess it's same as Shimano freewheel
If it has a 11T cog, it s not a freewheel, it s a freehub. This video is for freewheel-to-singlespeed conversion.
What if I don’t have two whip chain tools what other alternatives can I use to unlock freewheel
Try with mallet, but you will need to hold the freewheel from coasting and remove the last cog which is lock nut.

Thanks bro, it's goes as a normal freewheel. So no problem, u'll need a old RD as a tensioner.
@@TwoWheelFreedom-1 how to make it fixed.?
DM on instagram
You can use the derailleur as a tensioner
Yes only short cage derailleur will work
Informative video... thankyou .. I am planning to convert montra madrock into single speed which is good for small hill climbs also please help 😇
Yes you can

Will both the hammer method and chain whip to unlock both types? Tried two chainwhips on my Shimano but I couldn't get it to unlock.
shimano freewheel need more power to undo.
lock nut of shimano freewheel is last cog which is right hand tread. two chainwhip will drive opposite direction.
Felicitarlo por la demostración ...
Pero quisiera saber cuál es el modelo de rache Shimano
model - tz500 shimano freewheel

I've been looking to do this for days, trying to get a MTb wheel on a fixie frame, is it possible on a freehub?
Thanks
for a freehub just get a 2mm metal, laser cut to desires teeth and stack it uh with spacers on either side to maintain chain line and finish it with of a good old cassette lockring.
check my cargo build i have did the same. have a look.
So I need an old freewheel for this as well as another one?
Old freewheel for extra spacers only.
If you're going single speed it's better to get a purpose made freewheel, but if you have an old freewheel laying around 'might as well put it to use.'

Where we find the spacers?
i got from old freewheeel.
I'm having trouble removing the outer lock ring and highest gear, tried the hammer method and the two chain whip one

Hello. What type of spacer you use?
Spacers from old freewheel.
@@TwoWheelFreedom-1 so you can use any type of freewheel spacer not just from shimano?
Ya,, but there shouldn't be more play, correct size spacers would be better.
@@TwoWheelFreedom-1 oh great! Thank you for the info. Great video
Sweet. 👍👍🏴
what chain will you use after na converstion? single or 7 speed?
7s
They will both work, but single speed chain is just thicker (and feels cooler, in my opinion)
buddy do you know how to replace cog of singlespeed?
Yes
