yayyy some love for the smaller lads :D i build very compact, my first real "success" (by which i mean a boat that 1 floated 2 had a working gun etc) i called Borat because he was, and i quote, "Great Success!". He costs about 10k, he might have been a fragile little one and by far not the greatest, but he was the first steppingstone in the boat builder journey :3 i'm thinking of making a revamp for him maybe, he was quite the lad dare i say
Something I've done with small craft is have a "main" ship behind them providing battery power, usually in the form of a larger sub. Though this drifts more into a drone carrier than actual small craft.
fun fact hyper small aps (2 tall 3 long and 3 wide.) belt fed aps works very well when building cheap early game craft.... (you can do 3 by 3 by 3 or 4 by 3 by 3 if you want to push it down into the hull instead of being a deck gun) secondary fun fact 3 by 3 by 3 and 4 by 3 by 3 can use 2 meter clips.
Meanwhile, my adventure mode 1.5mil jet-steam-fuel powered destroyer class (I guess? or maybe it's a light missile cruiser... it has one 250mm APS, laser, medium sized twin PAC, and 44 missiles + 24 torps) ship going 46 m\s (as fast as your tiny gunboat boiii) 2:56 wait you can do that?! 24:38 why APN guidance? I often get those rockets miss their target even if it's a slow brick, prediction guidance however misses less frequently
Tiny inexpensive craft are too small for me. I feel like they get outscaled super fast and dont have the oomf to make me happy. The smallest craft i have is like 60k mats

"what we needed, was a little guy."
"So I built a little guy."
"Behold: uh- little guy."
Currently trying to get better at building small myself. Sometimes I forget that I can just make the weapons smaller and cheaper.
Your last how to build small guide helped me so much when I was just starting... holy shit that was 5 years ago.

me, who routinely build ships longer than most skyscrapers are tall: hm, yes. this will fix me.
plasma is great for small craft more gun per volume

Yup, DIF guns are a thing. And APN generally works better, you do need a fair amount of fins on it for it to work though.
@@BorderWise12 from my experience, APN tends to be late and it overshoots, prediction does not. I don't use more than 1 fin module though

I built a 10k material full manual pac melee sub
Holy shit. It's not a canoe.
Surprise! XD
