I haven’t read many but really liked Yumi and The Blade Itself on the list and my favorite 2 of course was back to back: Dune and Eye of the World. Hat tip to you on a fun video
I read The Blade Itself this year, and really enjoyed the first half, but for a variety of reasons my interest declined, drastically, thereafter and I've shelved plans to read the rest of the series. Interestingly, I didn't like The Black Company either when I first tried it. Glen Cook has a rather spare style, and the first section reads like an uneasy fusion of Vietnam war film and D&D game. I gave it another go a bit later on, though, and loved it so who knows, that may turn out to be the case with TBI. Soulcatcher, from The Black Company is one of my all-time favourite fantasy characters, (albeit that Cook's understanding of what a Morion is seems to differ from the usual definition). Personally, I wouldn't bother with Neuromancer, I'm afraid, no disrespect intended to its many fans. I'm hoping to read Tigana at some point this year.
Thanks for the insights and perspectives on various books. I hope you'll return to First Law someday. That original trilogy was OK for me, but things really took off with book 4, the first of the three standalone novels, and now I'm reading the final book (book 9), and it's just been a brilliant series for me. Neuromancer: Yes, I've seen mixed opinions. The prmise interests me, so I'll hope to give it a try, but perhaps it might end up one of my VERY rare DNFs. We'll see. Tigana is AWESOME!
Huzzah! I’ve read a number of these and even wrote one of them! But you didn’t pick the one that ACTUALLY starts with the letter X, which would have saved you from cheating on X. Hmmm… I want to read The Man in the High Castle, The Poppy Wars, Interview with a Vampire, and I never would have thought about Red Rising, but that quote on the front (“Ender, Katniss, and now Darrow”) has that on my list, too! And I bought Tigana but still haven’t read it. 🤦🏻♂️ Also… how can you like Under the Dome and not Duma Key?! So weird… I surmise it’s because you prefer story to character development and you like big cast of characters a la The Stand. Wizard of Earthsea. Complete classic. Do it! Zombie Fallout… just why? Mike Talbot is an idiot. And the laughs are TOO cheap. I might try the award winning one. You are forgiven because of World War Z and The Living Dead. Those delightful books wash the taste of bulldog poop and former Marines out of my mouth.
Loved this entire comment! Read it out loud to my wife. Thanks, Eric. - As for Under the Dome vs. Duma Key, totally different vibe. And yes, I am indubitably a "story" guy.

Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed the video. Taking time to say so is very affirming.
