Yeah, Amprobe stuff is made by the Brymen company in Taiwan. They also rebrand their instruments in the United States under the Greenlee name. And they are a little slow registering amp readings. The Amprobe 300 series with the "amp tip" function produce very accurate amp readings, especially in the lower ranges.
And I also believe that our "customer questioning" techniques are one of the most powerful diagnostic tools we can have in our bag. Done correctly, with the proper questions asked, you can get them to tell you an awful lot about the problem. Things they didn't even realize they knew. It can save you valuable time out in the field and save you wasted trips down the Rabbit Hole. 😎👍

I had a run capacitor issue like that last year on a brand new Trane. Installed an OEM capacitor that bench tested perfectly and showed under capacitance while running. I spoke with a bunch of engineers and nobody could give me a reason. Just a note that I did test it with three different meters and get the same results. I guess that’s why they call electricity a theory.

Need the outside air damper controlled by CO2 sensor. That way it’ll stay closed most of the time. Great vid
We have some locations that have that but they are a lot more money. there's a lot of people that don't want to spend any money around here so unless it's mandated by the state it doesn't usually happen. Thanks for watching I appreciate it 👍👍

That's a fairly new building, it's a good place to maintenance. We do all the reach in and walk in refrigeration there in addition to the HVAC.

I really liked the capacitor under load math. Gotta say i did not know that. Thanks for that! I would have checked amps on the contactor and voltage there. Hate the . Oh now its working calls. Good thing you dampered that outside air, I'm not sure where your from but in GA on our commercial units the max OA we allow us 30% do to the humidity issues. That seems to work best and it is by the engineer's specs so good job on noticing that. Personally I love my fluke 87 but is very limited on what they can do
Thanks for checking it out 👍👍. A lot of times the fresh air damper is there to pass inspection then gets closed 😏. The 87v has proven to be good at bench work in electronics repair and industrial work. I'm curious what is it missing that you would need?

HVACR Survival it's not shock proof lol dropped it the other day in the case and the screen is only half working. That's operator error problem though
It might be just the rubber ribbon cable that goes to the LCD screen. You can pick those up on eBay pretty cheap ?

I remember learning one in trade school but for the life of me I cannot find it again , I even looked for it on the web but I couldn't find the one I was taught ... Maybe because we use 230-240 V for single phase , I dunno .

I would search for "checking a capacitor under load." You should find something that way. I believe I did once before. The videos seem to always get screwed up by something going wrong. This one's been sitting for awhile so I finally edited it. I appreciate the comment Mr. Archer 👍👍

/wonders if the maintenance visit in March added some gas to the system, which meant it was overcharged come the heat of the summer months...
I did the maintenance in March but didn't add anything. Our agreement technically says check everything but the pressures, but I usually do for this very reason. But March would have been too cold for accurate measurements in Ohio.
Probably, I try not to adjust refrigerant charges during the cooler months unless it's a known leaker.
@@scrambler350 I feel the same way, its easy to over charge them in the colder ambient temps. Far as known issues, I don't believe we have had many problems with the HVAC here.

Depends what part of the field your talking, I mean there is something new to learn everyday. For me I would say because I do so many different things it makes it hard to remember it all.

Yea it was something I learned later in the field not to long ago. Lol. Just be careful 😁 it bites harder than 120v per leg does.
Learning to check caps while under load has saved me a lot of headache and really makes the difference

I'd say you need to read in the hundredths scale to accurately test those small caps and motors but even then I don't fully trust the readings

That amprobe clamp meter is from the fluke company.
Yep, its there second class citizen. They did not stock the NAV-52 in Washington State. I had to wait nearly 20 plus days for a warranty meter.
My main meter is a 376 fc
I have that one to, it's a great meter 👍👍👍. Fluke gave it to me because I had to send back the Amprobe twice for poor battery life and issues reading freq drives.(that was some great customer service that day) now here is the funny part... I'm OCD about scratches so it sleeps in the toolbox until it's summoned. 🤣🤣🤣
