    I find the Austria-Hungary scenario particularly interesting. One thing I might add is ‘what if Esperanto became the official language of the Danubian Federative Empire?’ I feel if the language is to take-off anywhere it would be here, due to the Habsburg’s interest in transcending national and linguistic tensions. Utilising Esperanto may make the Hungarians less bitter, as it wouldn’t feel like they were were being dominated by Austria but part of an equal Danubia Union.

    • @alexzero3736

    I have some reservations about the Chinese scenario:
    1. Since Nationalist China was a victorious power in WW2, I doubt either they or the communists would accept or obey a peace negotiated by the Soviets and Americans.
    2. The success of Southern China hinges a lot on if Chiang Kai-Shek accepts the help on the Sino-American Joint Commission on Rural Reconstruction, which originally instituted land reforms in Taiwan. If he does not accept, then Chiang's unpopular post-war policies and hyperinflation (which is what originally lost them the civil war) would severely weaken south China. If so, (and if the white terror still happened) we could potentially see a vietnam-style conflict between north and south.
    3. Most of the deaths during the great Chinese famine were in the South. In this scenario with only North China, perhaps only Anhui and the west would see the levels of famine of the original timeline. (Besides, Mao would have no Yangtze to swim across) If this were the case, Mao's original power and policies wouldn't have been challenged so he wouldn't have launched the Cultural Revolution, and the power base of China would be completely different. Generals like Zhu De and Peng Dehuai would not have been purged. We could see a far stronger cult of personality like we saw in North Korea, or perhaps a more Soviet-style of governance under Liu Shaoqi or Zhou Enlai, or a more nationalist form of socialism we saw in North Vietnam.
    4. If the Cultural Revolution did occur, it would be very different without Red Guards's power base in the South. The Governent in Beijing/The Headquarters being so close to a much smaller country would severely change the outcome of the situation.
    5. If 3 occurs and Mao does not lose power, I'd say Lin Biao would succeed Mao over Jiang Qing. If 3 occurs and Mao does lose power, then perhaps we could see Liu Shaoqi, Hua Guofeng, or perhaps even Soong Ching-ling or Zhou Enlai depending on when Mao dies or loses power.

    17:40 imo in this scenario Tibet would also most probably survive as an independent state since both the North and the South would not allow the other to invade Tibet, and after the reunification India would also protect Tibet against China since there still would be an Asian rivalry between them. Potentially East Turkestan (Xinjiang) would also try to secede during the North's collapse, but it's hard to tell how feasible that one would be, there is a possibility of them choosing to join the new democratic China in exchange for autonomy to benefit from the nation rebuilding done by the South. Some would also think that there would be a possibility of Mongolia reclaiming Inner Mongolia, but that I think would be too unrealistic, especially since Mongolia didn't have a good time then themselves

    Reckon you could do a scenario based on The Man With the Iron Heart by Harry Turtledove, where Czech partisans fail to kill Heydrich in 1942, and due to prolonged partisan warfare, terrorist activity such as truck bombings and aircraft hijacking, along with mounting pressure at home, US and British end up leaving their respective occupation zones in 1948 under the control of a newly instated German police force while the partisans under the leadership of Joachim Peiper are resurgent?
    It's a fascinating scenario, and has some major parallels with Afghanistan and Iraq

    • @captain_hammer
      @captain_hammer 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      That's actually really interesting... I read somewhere that Poland planned to develop its own nuclear weapons if it wasn't allowed into NATO, so let's say they do that, giving the new alliance a nuclear deterrent. After the collapse of the USSR, the Russians don't have the capability to stop them.
      Assuming Lukashenko still comes to power in Belarus, they obviously won't join the alliance. Ukraine would probably only join in 2014 after Euromaidan and Russia annexing Crimea. This would protect them against further Russian aggression, preventing the 2022 invasion, but the situation along the border between this alliance and Russia+Belarus would be very tense. It would essentially be the Cold War Part 2.
      In terms of economics and culture, Eastern Europe will be a lot "further" from Western Europe. So it's possible that Eastern Europe's economy won't grow as much as it did IRL, and that their governments might be more authoritarian and aggressively anti-communist.
      IDK what the relationship between this alliance and NATO would be. Maybe with a separate alliance to hold back the Russians in Europe, the USA decides to focus even more on the Middle East, or shifts its focus to countering Chinese influence in Asia?

    I think one thing that could be interesting that would come from the first scenario is the possibility of the Entente forces reestablishing the Tsardom of Russia (or at least the provisional government under the white army) in the occupied zones Japan occupied. This could lead to many border crashes and skirmishes in the future between these two sides of Russia sorta like how after WW1 and the independence of Finland, Baltics and Poland, multiple border skirmishes occurred, this added pressure on different fronts could even lead to Ukraine remaining independent post-war.

    Personally I imagine that a "more competent Czar Nicholas II" scenario would diverge mostly at the russian revolution which would be less severe because Nicholas II sees where the wind is blowing, sues for peace with Germany earlier ceding less land, lets say interwar poland and the baltics as well as a bit of Ukraine and belarus, satiating a larger chunk of the russian population, with a larger chunk of the army he deals with the rebels on the front, then marches west, the rebels are still formidable and the civil war slowly marches west, Nicholas gets the reds to agree to a deal where they get everything east of the Urals save for most of the turkic regions (Kazakhstan and friends) and any communists were free to migrate east, Nicholas II then begins federalization and industrialization of the rest of Russia begins with the aid of brilliant advisors, a Turkic federation is formed, Poland is cut out of the territory given to Germany by the allies, baltic states are free, maybe a west Ukrainian republic is formed and a small Belarus is formed, all in an entente to guarentee independence, Greater Finland might vaguely exist and the march to ww2 begins

    • @matthiuskoenig3378
      @matthiuskoenig3378 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A more comptitant Tsar Nicholas means more reforms after 1905 revolution and a more stable Russia in ww1 but still haveing their military/industrial issues.
      It also likely means they accept the mid 1916 peace offer, which was a white peace with Austria potentially cedeing eastern galicia (and slightly less likely the whole of galicia), as the germans wanted to pull the Russians into an alliance postwar or atleast sever the Franco-Russian alliance. This would be a part of his new compitance, which would recognise the allies aren't winning soon if at all and this deal is a good 1 to prevent Russian loses from being too great.
      He would continue his competence by continuing more ecconomic reforms after leaveing ww1 (including negotiating more investment from USA) aswell as minor social reforms as he sees where the wind is blowing but doesn't want to become a figurehead monarchy either.
      Regardless of if the germans win (mid-late 1916 kaisersxhalxht, with even more forces {no occupations}) or still loose they would likley invest heavily into Russia post-war to keep them friendly and to have a land-route for resources (to avoid another British blockade). Reinforced by anglo-french resentment of the Russians.

    • @matthiuskoenig3378
      @matthiuskoenig3378 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hell a compotent Nicholas probably means ecconimic reforms start as ealry as 1894/5, although social reforms likely only start in 1905 regardless of how competent he is.
      Regardless of when industrial reforms begin it's likely Russia ends up with both a more industrialised ecconomy and a more balanced one then it did in OTL, due to less set backs (less ww1, no civil war, no communist purges, expulsions, isolation or famines) more fevor to do so. Russia is thus more prepared for ww2 in whatever form that takes (most likely the french being the aggressors after losing to germany due to ealry kaiserschlacht)

    In the WW1 Japan scenario i would not be surprised if France fell. The French army and military in our own timeline ended the war barely functional due to large scale strikes, calls for peace, and active rebellion. If Paris fell, their Indochinese colonies started to be occupied, and the war dragged on for 2 extra years then i'd honestly say the chance France survives in its current state is small. They might be able to hold out for a German surrender but at that point either they would have to let the UK and US handle Japan completely alone while they turn their rapidly demobilizing military into armed police to suppress dissent, or actively push for peace to stem the bleeding with heavy German reparations and the morale boost of the war ending

    Ngl, I would really want to live in the scenario were KMT China got more lands in the Cold War and later all of China after Democratization.
    And it would really be interesting how Pop Culture would develop in this World were Chinese Media is more widespread thanks to a more Democratic and West-Friendly China.

      The great pop culture war between weebs, us home grown culture and Chinese weeb equvilients. This revivalry results in holliwood/us pop culture being forced to invovate more often (like how Don bluth forced Disney to invovate/etc) and thus the OTL dark age we experiance of reboots and remakes never happens.

    What if Byzantines never fell?
    Leads to a visible butterfly effect (Byzantine trade was encouraged, Ottomans discouraged, which caused colonization)
    Lack of colonization means survival of Scotland and weaker European powers.
