I would have been 7 years old in 1956 when I saw this at the Bayview Theatre in Toronto. This movie blew me away. It remains one of my favourites. Anyone involved should be proud of themselves for contributing to this ground breaking movie.
This is without doubt (for it's time) the very best Sci-Fi film made, my number one favourite, on reflection some of the best films ever made were late fifty's early sixty's.👍👍👍
Funny, I imagine the Krell to be humanoid. The floors, doors, walkways, shuttle all fit that image. The next impression I got was that they were telepathic, and had no need to write, draw, or use images of any kind.
Looks like a very good old movie I never saw. Special Effects have leaps, Many are unaware of past creations. Wonder if NASA enjoyed studio Kubrick like tricks for Apollo?

The music, too, was one of my favorite parts. Great movie.
It's the best all-around sci-fi movie ever made. Period.

Sure, effects today are often more realistic, but it's mostly done in front of a computer. I think the old hand-made effects have their own charm.
This is a sci fi wet dream ..... awesome movie
Name another movie where the Earthmen use a FLYING SAUCER.
20 miles!!
"And now time for clarification". "There once was a race of beings on this planet 2000 centuries ago called the Krell".
