To explain the ridiculous speed boost at the end by the gtr: that is gold drift boost. When you're in the lead, it is much easier to farm gold drifts. As you accumulate gold drifts, they become stored as boost and are released at the final straightaway of the course

In America, you can't - the machines are region locked, so if they connect online & see any IP connection that isn't Japan, it'll lock up. Plus IDAS8 servers went offline anyways - because there's Stage Zero now.

The last Initial D game I played was 5 and back then there was this Tire system: we needed to slow down intentionally to save the tire for the CP boost, is there a similar system in Initial D8? Yang Yu no, they removed the tire system after AS6 AA. Now, you just drift freely.
