The actor who plays Louis or Grey worm is British in real life. So he's putting on an American/Creole accent in this show. The guy who plays Lestat is Australian in real life and he's putting on a French accent for the show. Both of their accent work is very very strong, in my opinion. It is not bad! I've heard way WAY more inconsistent accent work, in the past. They must just be very good at accents or they worked very close with an accent coach for this project.
The choices: 1. Die (Lestat: "Weeeell, you said you wanted to die anyway so I can do you a favour by killing you. Aren't I sweet?") OR 2. Become a vampire (Lestat: "You will be my companion because you're hot, I'm hot and we can be hot together").
Lestat never lies to Louis. He may keep things from him, or only tell him part of something, but he always tells him the truth. He read Paul's mind. He said Paul longed for death, so that's what he heard in Paul's head.
"Louie I don't want you to embarrass yaself....SOMETHIN tells me the gentleman has MORE money" 🤣😂🤣 girl the way I HOLLERED when you said that cuz I watched thinking the SAME thing I was like "Oh baby no don't do that please"
This Lestat wouldn't have killed him if he said no. He actually has fallen in love with him. He would just keep trying to convince him. He's got nothing but time. This is the Lestat from the other books. The Lestat from Louis original, bitter, angry interview telling, would probably have killed him with a 'no', but that Lestat, in that original interview, met Louis one night, bit him and tuned him the next night. This Lestat actually got to know Louis over weeks and weeks.
They already renewed the show for season 2 before the first episode aired on TV (it came out a week before on AMC+). I am so very excited for the rest of this season!

@@shalayahomebodytv well, clearly he’s often not a nice guy, he’s quite savage. Immoral. Entitled. Etc. Established clearly from the first episode. They did a good job with that. I’ve always thought Klaus from the Vampire Diaries was a bit modeled from Lestat.

Yes, but do we know this for sure? I think I heard that it's still a source of discussion around book readers. And you have to admit, even if it's not truly the case, the way they shot the last half of the first episode would naturally have you questioning Lestat. And being as this is supposed to be sort of its own thing with the spirit of the book in tact. But then again, Lestat trully loves Louis even if their romance is fucked up I don't think Lestat would go out of his way to cause Louis genuine pain... idk.
I'm still not sure if it's love or obsession lol. If he thought it was for Louis own good, or they were keeping Louis from him, maybe he would. Also he called him his heart companion, I'm wondering if that's like werewolf imprinting. So he can't help but be obsessed
@@shalayahomebodytv Yeah, Lestat is a lot of things, but very, very rarely a liar. He's more likely to lie to himself. And he's desperately in love with Louis and wouldn't ever get rid of Paul to hurt him. And he won't unalive anyone unless its for food or to protect someone.
To have some background: 1. This is all based of a series of books by Anne Rice called The Vampire Chronicles. The first was published in 1976 and Anne was grieving the death of her 5 year old daughter. The sequel gets made about 9 years later called The Vampire Lestat (Anne has since changed a lot). 2. The first BOOK is the interview Louis gives about his life as a vampire. A big part of it was his relationship with Lestat and his challenges with leaving his humanity behind, which caused a lot of fights with Lestat. 3. He talks of how cruel Lestat was and manipulative. He says he used him for money (Louis is slave owner in the books and makes big cash). When their relationship gets especially tough Lestat decides a child can fix it and in enters Claudia (5 year old girl turmed vamp). 4. Happiness comes but doesn't last. Claudia can't age and is mad them both. A lot happens after that and book ends with Louis alone after another failed relationship with another Vamp, Armand, who is also alone and Lestat is alone. 5. Book two (9 years later) is Lestat's side of the story. Louis was lying. Not all of it but a lot and the rest Lestat challenges with how it looks from his perspective. Lestat is the narrator for the rest of the books and this decision is tied to the state of Anne who lead with grief (Louis) in the first book then appectance (Lestat) in the rest and Lestat becomes the hero. The show uses the interview to embed the readaptation. The first interview was kept secret (in the book Daniel makes a book on the interview), Daniel grows old and mature and Louis wants to tell the story again and by now all the things that happen in The Vampire Chronicles has happened. Louis takes back his harsh understanding of Lestat and tells a more unbiased story. They change a lot from the books but it works well.
Damn. That sounds like we have a lot of seasons coming our way. I wonder how many of those they'll do. I wonder if they'll show Lestat's point of view next season. I hope they do a backstory at least, because after the story about his father, I want to know how he escaped and turned. Or was he born a vampire? His backstory can honestly be it's own season. And would help if she plans make him the hero in the end. Can't wait to hear his explaination for destroying the church lol. I get he and religion don't mix but damn lol
"Wow, what a romance, y'all!" 🤣 Speeding up the video hurts my brain (cause of medical issues, but I get why you do it) but I love your commentary. Will definitely watch your other reactions to this show. The bit about Lestat wanting to be a priest is actually part of Lestat's backstory in the books. That's why he gets all shouty about it; it hit a nerve. RE: Paul. If you rewatch that roof scene knowing what happens at the end, you can tell he's saying goodbye. He wants to make sure his brother and sister are going to be alright before he checks out.
@@shalayahomebodytv Well, you don't expect someone to do what Paul did on their sister's wedding night (especially not since it was such a good party and they were having a sweet moment).
Lol true. Now that i think on it, the signs were there, i was just clouded by Lestats powers and him getting into his head. Also I'll try slowing my speed dwn a bit. I hope it helps.
Lestat didn't kill Paul and he loves Louis, he would have let him go if he had said no. Especially because he never got a choice himself; he was kidnapped and turned without any say in the matter, at least in the books. We are yet to see what his backstory is in this show but given that they made the whole monastery story canon, I think it's probably close to the original story which basically means that Lestat has a lot of trauma that he carries around. The man in damaged, obviously, and completely removed from his own humanity. Which is part of the reason he is so attracted to Louis, because he's the other way around; he is kind and loving, considerate and caring; they are each other's polar opposites which causes them to clash horribly and makes the relationship super toxic, yet there's so much love there too that keeps them coming back for more.
Good to know, because it was hard to tell lol. Him and his temper, then he just killed the priest, I mean he barely knew them and he put a fist thru ones skull then comes back confessing love. My guys on a whole new scale of damaged 😆
@@shalayahomebodytv No doubt about that. He has anger issues and he's deep down really lonely which is also a reason that he makes Louis. Most of the vampires in Anne Rice's universe ends up killing themselves because they can't adapt to the times or the long expanses of loneliness. He reacted with rage because... first of all... Louis fucked him and then completely ignored him causing him to kill Lily out of spite because he knew Louis liked her, and then second of all... Louis went to the church which he also despises with a passion, instead of him, and he just lost it. At this point though, he is at least 200 years old and has shed his humanity long ago, people are just food to him, disposable. It doesn't bother him the slightest taking their lives because he considers himself the ultimate predator and let's face it, HE IS. It's really no different than a human slaughtering a cow when you think about it. If the farmer doesn't feel bad for killing a farm animal, why should Lestat feel any remorse for humans? It's part of being a vampire. Except he does like to play with his food in a very sadistic way.... but honestly.... that just kind of makes him a cat and do we blame the cat for it's behavior? No, we don't. So why should be judge Lestat so harshly? ;)
Omfg this reaction is a masterpiece but also like the moment of Louis confession when you go “what is happening.. lestat *legendary sigh/eye roll* I literally laughed till I couldn’t get a breath
Fun reaction video, thanks. And glad you're liking it - I loved the book series growing up so I was so excited for this adaptation and also for their making all the gay stuff from the books explicit on the screen, lol. And the show's so good. And, seriously, about the mother - "don't put that on me, put it in a book, put it in a bottle," lol. She was wrong for that. Also, "Lestat, I thought you were suave," lol - so true. But Lestat's less suave and more a predator, so he attacked when his prey was weak (mourning at brother's funeral). In that light, his timing made perfect sense. He wanted Louis and made his move at the perfect moment of vulnerability and willingness to take a leap into something new (the dark gift).
🛑; Lestat stalked Louis before they met, He found out where all of Louis's regular hang-out spots were and would be there before Louis got there, (That's why he was there with Ms Lily, and at the card game at the beginning.) Lestat was trying to shoot his shot. 🔺After the 3-Some with Ms. Lily, Louis said he didn't plan on going back to his house., But Lestat had already made up his mind that they were gonna be together!) His yes was under duress. / Your commentary and edits!... lol 😅👍🏼
An observation...Lestat HATES rejection. When he approached Louis during the funeral procession, he said, "My condolences"...totally appropriate. If Louis had simply said something like, "Thanks, but not now", or even something like, "Yeah, I'll get back to you", whether he meant it or not, that would have sufficed for Lestat. I understand why Louis responded that way, but It's not what you say...it's how you say it. He pushed Lestat's buttons. Once pushed, the verbiage flows from the lips and only Lestat knows how it's gonna come out. That's why they call him the brat prince!
The whole business with Paul.. Lestat didnt tell him spooky shit nor made him jump.. the show made it a bit unclear but Paul had mentall issues for his whole life, and it was all him saldy :( In the books Lestat didnt even meet Paul and Louis when this happens..

I’m so thrilled you are watching this! I am so scared I’m not going to like this version. After experiencing whiney book lovers watching Netflix’s The Witcher and The Sandman, both of which I loved, and I am no prior book/comic reader, this time is different. I grew up with the book series, as it was being written, always waiting for the next book. Already there are some changes I’m a little disoriented by, but it’s ok. What they are doing is fun. Except I can tell you right now I’m no happy with Claudia NOT being a child.
I noticed they aged her up. I was wondering if it was to avoid some cringe in some scenes, from the audience. I've never watched the film but I remember Kirsten Dunst mentioning a kissing scene with Brad Pitt. But idk, she looks teenage in this one.
😆 🤣 and you wanted to see it. I've never seen any of them so I'm completely new. But I always liked the child vampire angle. I even wrote a short story in college based of it

💭I think Lestat would've kidnapped him, or killed him if he said no!... (but he was using all his brainwashing, telepathy, love-bombing tricks on him too.)😏
one thing about this episode I thought to myself...his bro is preaching n God fearing but why not have the bro go join a monastery n become a real priest n preach all the time...also if the bro is disgusted by the job loui does why live off those riches n live in that house n eat that food n sleep in that house but turn around n talk smack about the family business n continue to preach God this n God that...like wat??😂😅😤😮💨🙃🤔🤔🤔🤔🤪I'm just sayin
This first season only covers half of interview with the vampire book with Claudia and Louis fleeing to Europe so season 2 is going conclude interview with the vampire book with the introduction of:Armand, Santiago, theater vampires and death of Claudia.
@ShalayaHomebody TV In the movie it was Santiago the leader of the theater vampires in Paris. If you look closely at the pages in Claudia’s journal you’ll see the year 1945 so I’m assuming that’s when she’ll die in the show.

He wanted Louis and made his move at the perfect moment of vulnerability and willingness to take a leap into something new (the dark gift).
i had so much fun watching this lol i loved your commentary and editing. thanks for the laughs
Np. Thank you, for watching
"What happened?.... Lestat." That's always the answer. 🤣
Loved this! you are so funny, looking forward to more
🛑; Lestat stalked Louis before they met, He found out where all of Louis's regular hang-out spots were and would be there before Louis got there, (That's why he was there with Ms Lily, and at the card game at the beginning.) Lestat was trying to shoot his shot.
Lestat didnt tell him spooky shit nor made him jump.. the show made it a bit unclear but Paul had mentall issues for his whole life, and it was all him saldy :(
In the books Lestat didnt even meet Paul and Louis when this happens..
I nearly peed my pants! You had me laughing so freaking hard. Wingardium leviosa! LOL!
The way u just casually took a hit off that joint. Sis I’m here for it
🤣🤣🤣
27:20 with the whispered questions had me rolling 🤣🤣🤣

Thsbk you. I don't plan on stopping anytime soon lol
There' seduced and there's long winded. LOL.
You were good you sound a little like Keke Palmer
Thanks! I love her
I first saw your reactions from a reaction compilation that "REACT THIS I$ IT" channel did (The Sandman reactions) and I HAD to look you up and watch your full reactions to the show!! I'm one of those people who need to talk about a show/movie as it's playing and talk about EVERYTHING! I watched all your Sandman reactions tonight lol, and I'm about to start on these Interview reactions, I had to stop at the five minute mark and tell you how much I love your reactions and it's refreshing hearing someone discuss things about the show/movie in detail like you do!! You crack me up so much lol!!! Thanks for sharing a part of yourself and your fun personality with us all here, people like me really need it and love it!
Thank you so much. And thanks for telling me. I'm about to go look that up, I just got excited, 😆
love your commentary so much! 😁
I literally subbed, put on notifications and liked the video and within 30 seconds of playing it and every single time you made me cackle with your commentary I had to make sure I was subscribed 😂🤣 Sorry for the oblivion, I'm a bit 🍁😙💨
Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed this reaction 😁👍
Lol thanks. I can relate.
I was looking for good reactions videos to this... Well, MASTERPIECE and i decided to stay with you

I'm so glad I found your channel. This reaction was great. I laughed so many times.
@17:34 “oh Miss Lilly, you about to earn every penny!” LOL!!! Sub’d worthy for that line alone - but there’s so many other good ones too! LOL, love this, I’m laughing like a fool, it’s like watching with a bunch of my friends, love it! :-) :-) :-)
@@shalayahomebodytv yes, teenage. Maybe I should reserve judgment. It’s just a special kind of terrible to make a child a vampire.
😆 🤣 and you wanted to see it. I've never seen any of them so I'm completely new. But I always liked the child vampire angle. I even wrote a short story in college based of it
@@shalayahomebodytv cool.
Shalaya, that wingardium leviosa bit was hilarious. Instant subscribe! I'm loving your commentary, and that blouse/dress (?). ^_^
15:49 this is the only time Louie stands up for himself and others. After this he allows everything to happen.
You sound kinda like Keke Palmer when I close my eyes.
Thanks. I never noticed before til a couple of yall started mentioning it lol.
I love your reactions, please keep reacting to the whole series.
Thanks. I definitely will
Thanks. I definitely will
You are so entertaining 😂❤
I really enjoyed your review . You are very funny and a joy to watch :)
Ok now I’m starting from the beginning
This is the best reaction!!
10:29 you cracked me up so baddddd lmfao ....you are so funny
Im too high to watch these reactions cause I’m dying😂…seriously this is how I sound watching this show too🤣😂
😂😂 nice to know I'm not the only one who rants at the TV
Love your reaction!
Thanks 😊
I just found your channel (because binge watching videos on IWTV lol), you are so fun to watch, great comments and editing! Subbed immediately! Keep them coming, please do watch the film! Greetings from Brazil ✌️
Hey! Thank you! Greetings back from the US. I plan to watch the film, just not sure about finding spoilers. I kinda want to watch Queen of the Damned first, but that would be out of order I think.
I hope you react to the other episodes too! :D Love the editing in this.
Louis's mom was so unfair...
I will be. I'm uploading ep2 now. Fingers crossed, there's no issues
Loved your reaction subscribed
Just found your channel and couldn’t stop laughing. Definitely subscribing because I love watching movies/shows and talking a lot to!
Another kindred spirit!
Omg your reactions are so me, 🤣🤣🤣🥰🥰
I love louis accent its perfect especially since hes British
Ikr. It was better than a lot of the others
Yea, I thought he was really from New Orleans.
I've heard his voice in GOT, so I knew how he sounds, so I was blown away when he started speaking. I was like, "Do he have family in New Orleans?" Lol
You're hilarious! Now go watch episode 2 to for more unrelenting Lestat evil manipulations.
Lol cant wait!
aw, leave my baby girl alone!! 🤣 He's cleared of all charges for life.
7 Episodes. Season 2 already greenlit.
Wow really? They must've known a gem when they saw it
@@shalayahomebodytv renewed it before the 1st episode even aired!
You’re hilarious omg 😭😭😭
you can stop now. i don't want your ash in my lungs! 😆
Watch the movie! Would love to see your reaction to it!
I'm going to. Probably in a week or 2
@@shalayahomebodytv Can't wait! I haven't laughed this freaking hard at a TH-cam video ever. You need a dang reality series hahahaha.
@18:22 Not leviosa!🤣
Yes you should do a reaction to the movie, and they made a prequel called queen of the Damned
People were telling me about it. I plan to watch both, but I wasn't sure which order.
QOTD is not a prequel. It just explains the history of vampires - but it is the third part of Lestat's story and an abysmal movie (except for Aaliyah).
That's the reason I never watched it. It came out to soon after she passed. And my momma wouldn't let me 😂
💭I think Lestat would've kidnapped him, or killed him if he said no!... (but he was using all his brainwashing, telepathy, love-bombing tricks on him too.)😏
Paul has a mental illness likely Schizophrenia and most mythical beings can't control their minds. This is canon!
What annoys me is book readers in the comments when the series is so different. Like they do not know it all😭 so take it with a grain of salt
You having a good day?
Hope so. Its just starting
one thing about this episode I thought to myself...his bro is preaching n God fearing but why not have the bro go join a monastery n become a real priest n preach all the time...also if the bro is disgusted by the job loui does why live off those riches n live in that house n eat that food n sleep in that house but turn around n talk smack about the family business n continue to preach God this n God that...like wat??😂😅😤😮💨🙃🤔🤔🤔🤔🤪I'm just sayin
Love you 💟💟💟💟😘
Please watch the original it's good as well
I did. But i got a copyright claim 😔 So I have to reedit it before I upload it again.
This first season only covers half of interview with the vampire book with Claudia and Louis fleeing to Europe so season 2 is going conclude interview with the vampire book with the introduction of:Armand, Santiago, theater vampires and death of Claudia.
Oh no!! Anne giveth us Claudia and she taketh away. 😪 Who kills her? It better not be Lestat
@ShalayaHomebody TV In the movie it was Santiago the leader of the theater vampires in Paris. If you look closely at the pages in Claudia’s journal you’ll see the year 1945 so I’m assuming that’s when she’ll die in the show.
Hehe😂🦄🔥
I still think lestat killed Paul or had something to do with it
That's how you know Lestat killed Paul. After Louis rejected him openly at Paul's funeral, Lestat systematically started killing everyone Louis cared anything about out of spite.
