This would also explain why I love sleeping more in winter as I use up to three doona's. Also interesting that it creates serotonin. Very good to know.
Before weighted blankets, I would pile 4 to 5 blankets on top of myself as well as surround myself with stuffed animals. My sleep would never last though because I’d wake up in the middle of the night profusely sweating. I was so happy when I discovered weighted blankets because they are heavy without overheating me. Mine is a dusty pink with a ditsy white floral pattern. 🌸🤍
I would love to get one! I have a sensory and panic disorder a long with anxiety depression and PTSD. This sounds amazing but unfortunately I'm a broke college student and can't spend a lot on things like that. I'm sorry for asking but are weighted items expensive?
I think I need to try this. I have anxiety and also have an appointment set up next month for an autism diagnosis (pretty sure I have it) and I've had insomnia all my life. Wine only helps so much
@@sophiekerr8964 I am autistic! And my birthday is next week, and from the sounds of it my boyfriend will be getting me a weighted blanket for my birthday
I have always wanted to put a lot of things around me and on top of me. So I was kind of shutting myself out of the rest of the world. I stopped doing that and my sleep is horrible. Now i know maybe why, thank oyu this was really helpful
Please keep posting I love your channel! The cow part is sad because it reminds me of the farming industry on the mass that's quite sad but I want a weighted blanket
I just bought a single person 20 pound weighted blanket a couple days ago after 3 weeks of maxing out at 4.5 hours of sleep per night. Didn't sleep perfectly, but better. Ordered another one, to add to it. Tested today with the 20 pound blanket folded twice, so the weight distribution was equal to an 80 pound blanket. I can't normally fall asleep in the daylight hours especially in the light. I was able to fall asleep a bit, and was quite relaxed. How much do mattresses weigh? Somewhere around that, especially for queen sized mattresses, to start. The math checks out!
Amazing!!! I have ADHD (and soon will be tested for autism) and I have found weighted blankets to help a lot! But I can't get a decent weighted stuffed animal ANYWHERE! Mind if I ask where did you get yours from?
Since I'm also someone who struggles with sleep and I'm also an aspie that relaxes with pressure on my body, I'm hoping I could find a weighted blanket too.
This is the first night that I started sleeping with a weighted blanket. So far I have had 4 power naps throughout these 3 hours. Kept waking up. Not sure if a weighted blanket is for me.
They aren't for everyone, I love mine but before I got it I would love to have layers on me to sleep. Same but different I got my dog a thunder jacket because the pressure is supposed to help them stay calmer in storms etc. For her it actually had the opposite effect and she would be restless until we took it back off. She also doesn't like hugs or feeling confined in any way.
Wow thank you so much for this we live in New Zealand and my daughter is 2 on Sat and she is diagnosed with Anxiety already and we believe she might struggle with Sensory processing as well I love your ticktocks and you TH-cam videos helping me so much understand her x
MindOfHerOwn a weighted blanket should weigh 10% of your own body weight in order to be the ideal weight for your body. I bought mine from Etsy. Google weighted blankets and you'll get the links of loads of websites
I take 3 hours to get to sleep and I wake up 2-10 times a night I am going to make a weighted blanket and I have like 58 million stuffed animals on my bed.
That explanation was too long. I just say "Oh, it keeps you down n' in yer' bed and night so that yer' not tossin' n' turning in the middle of the night. It also me control this medical condition that I have. It's a nice comfy weight on top of me. It also keeps me warm so that I don't need more than one blanket in the middle of the night. You should give it a try!" and--yeah. Purpose and effect. That's--that's it. Mommy said it would help me, keep me plastered to the bed, and I've been sleeping better eva' since! No, really. I REALLY RECCOMMEND YOU TRY IT OUT, PEOPLE IN THE COMMENT SECTION, YOU WIMPS!
