Blanket fort starts at 6:00 for everyone who's getting salty about the long intro and don't care to find out about autism, why I (any other children) choose to sleep like this, and the way our minds work xx 💞

Damn, this actually makes a lot of sense. As a kid, I had a bunk bed & would tuck sheets under the top mattress to make myself fully enclosed like a fort. I always wanted one of those old fashioned canopy beds, the ones that have curtains that go all the way around, like in A Christmas Carol & that was my version. It made me feel so much better. I never made the connection that it actually helped me sleep better. I've always had sleep problems & would even sometimes sneak out of the house as a kid & go on walks because I wasn't tired, or I was, but couldn't sleep. This is such a brilliant observation, thank you so much for making this video.

First time I come across you videos & I am happy I did. My 8 year old daughter has autism and she also can't sleep through the night. I bought her a weighted blanket and it helped for a little bit then I caught her placing her blankets around her bed, creating a tent and I thank you for this video because now I know how to help my daughter create a better fort for her bed. 😊💜

Miranda Slanted roofs are amazing! I have always loved them. I am not autistic, but I have ADHD, and I wonder if there are similarities because this was so relatable to me. As a kid I would spend whole days under my high bed in a very small and dark space between the wall and a movable drawer... 😂

I'm 31 and found this because I've been wanting to make this sort of thing lately, this video made me remember that when I was a kid (probably around 5?) I would sleep with a basket over my face/head because it felt like I was in a smaller room almost and felt like a meditative space.
I've always had insomnia ever since I can remember too! They're not sure about asd but I was recently diagnosed with adhd - one of my meds is catapres/clonidine which helps me sleep and wind down. When I looked up that meditation I found that another common use for it is to help autistic kids sleep. I know this is 4 years since uploaded, but just throwing it out there that it's helped me.
Thankyou for sharing your experience with insomnia and making this video! 😊

I used a spare top sheet and filled it with pillows and i could finally chill :)
my psychologist said she fully endorses the cubby house because apparently science backs up the whole enclosed feeling safe thing! so you're bang on! :) I will always have the cubby and I am super happy

Epic idea. gotta try this. as a kid there was a desk at home, drawers down either side of where you sit and a central drawer in your lap. THIS was my blanket fort. I would tuck a blanket into the centre drawer for the door, take out the bedding from a dolly pram, and stay in there all day. only recently discovered about my neurodivergence and keep looking at the dining room table and wondering how much fabric it would take to make a fort under it.

This seems like something I’m going to try! I have to use melatonin pills (about 5mg on a good day) just so that I can sleep. I’ve always figured it’s just my anxiety though, because it can get to the point that I pass out from exhaustion from crying, just over whatever happened in the last 8 years. Anyway, this is great idea and I love it, thanks!

I don’t have autism, (or at least I think) but I have trouble sleeping, and the main cuase was being afraid of the dark since a young age, even now I can walk around in pitch darkness but I wasn’t able to sleep without having a blanket on my head, but then I realized a good thing to do is put a sheet on top of yourself and then a fan next to you bed(the way you do it depends on your bed type and your preference). And the fan puts the sheet floating right above your head and it give you the best area to sleep. Idk how to explain how it helps but it makes sleeping soooo much better.

Hi! I have ideas, maybe if you have some tall-ish furniture, even if they are different heights, you can lay blankets atop of them! But if you have a desk or another bit of furniture which has a pocket underneath, like enough for you to at least lie down in comfortably, I suggest making it there, but I do like some height to it, so maybe. find another combination of these? Alright, gonna make the actual fort, bye! And good luck.

Does anyone know where I could find similar sloth sheets!? I may not be autistic but I’ve been diagnosed with anxiety sense I was 7 and later diagnosed with GAD at 12 I’m currently 19 and ever since I was around ten I’ve had insomnia. My mind just for some reason becomes extremely active at night. I’m about to move out at the end of the month and I think I’m gonna try something similar of course to meet my own needs to help me sleep a little bit more soundly at night☺️

That is a very interesting idea:). I like your "fort" because it reminds me of the old fashion Victorian Canopy Beds, but not as high up:). Matilda, the Dog and Biscuit, the Cat make your "fort" extra special:). I also like the idea of calming lights and I like your Himalayan Salt Lamp too:).

Quick tip, avoid blue night lights or any blue lights an hour before bed, the blue light can reduce melatonin production (chemical that helps u go to sleep)
