The spiral also makes you feel like you're running in circles if you don't look at it in the right angle.

Goddam Adam! Don't you get tired of bringing me what I need to hear at the right time? LOL

Thank you for these reminders! I’m terrified of the scale going up again, but your messages are always here to ground me:-)

As someone fighting against a Binge Eating Disorder, your videos have helped me so much to be kinder to myself. Started going to the gym which also helps a lot with my mental health, but thanks for these reminders every once in a while! They really do keep me going in the right direction

I discuss this with my therapy clients as part of relapse prevention. The cycle of change goes through 6 stages; pre-contemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, maintenance and sometimes relapse.
    But that's too simplistic.
I add in "lapse" between maintenance and relapse because it is almost inevitable and doesn't mean you've lost all your progress.
A lapse is an opportunity to reflect on your cycles of thought, emotion and behaviour and use that awareness to come out the other side.
A relapse is longer term usually where we start slipping back into old thought processes and behaviours without much reflection or awareness.

I know it's not intentional, but I like how some of the turns don't even dip down, they stay flat.
That to me sorta feels like those moments where we feel like we've hit a plateau. Cause without any up or down movement, it just feels like we're running in a circle without making real progress or even dipping down.
Those have been the hardest parts of my journey to get through, and it feels good knowing it's just part of the process.

The goal is to improve, if you stumble again and again and again at the setback you HAVE to re-evaluate yourself.

I have a question it doesn’t matter how well or not so well I eat and how much or less I exercise I either don’t lose weight or I gain. Do you have any advice for me?

Brilliant and beautiful analogy…dead on accurate. Remember that we all have tons of different elements that make up who we are. We might repeatedly stumble on one element that has particularly deep roots, but then we can also run across all new elements we had not noticed or considered before. I’m still on my journey, and haven’t seen this before, but now seeing it, I can look back at where I’ve come from and see this pattern.
