Maples are actually cheaper than Brits right now. Both are my go-to's.

Awesome recommendations! My top choice is also the British Britannia. The Britannia is far more stunning than the American Silver Eagle, which looks "mechanical" by comparison. When I show my stack of various coins and rounds to friends and relatives, I ask which is their favorite and they ALWAYS say the British Britannia. 👍

Just bought our very first silver coins - went with 100 Silver Eagles (2022). The premium on them is currently about 50% over spot price and that is a painful margin to pay, so I get why they only merited an honorable mention here, but for a new collector, we had to start with the classic so we went with the ASE's. Good thing is, their value should only increase. For our next purchase, we'll look more at the Krugerands or Britanias. thanks for the video.

The top 3 I am able to find for way cheaper are the Pilharmonics, Krugerrands, and Kangaroos. The Britannias are a 50/50 on price but due to the passing of the queen, price is up and down. Silver maples are great but you have to look around for the best deals on those which are getting hard to find! Thank you SD, happy holidays!

Agree with all 5. The Britannias have an impeccable appearance. Likewise the Maples are really classical. I have some Kangaroos which were a great buy at the time. Have a few Philharmonics bought at a great price. Also fell into a great deal when buying some gold and had been offered some ASE’s as an incentive at a below market price. Sometimes things just work out.

For you steady stackers, find a great LCD and buy from only them, and reap the rewards. Metal that walks in the door, rather than a distributor, I am given DEEP discounts on premiums depending on what he paid.
Have not bought ASEs in years, but always squire Maples, as the have solid security features, and very liquid and resale is never a problem.
Silver is the wild cousin to gold, so there are always opportunity to buy dips.

I also like the Britannia, it's a beautiful coin at a lower premium than others with advanced security features. Great video - i subscribed willingly.
The best coin i saw was the 2023 German silver bullion coin which i don't think is for sale at present.
I like the Canadian coin and the American coin but as ypu say they charge high premiums and so i think for just accruing silver bullion it is obvious to just buy the cheapest bullion coins which is the Brittania coin i think.
I also think the Austrian coin with no people on it makes it distinct and i like that also.

I see a lot of people say get this or that coin if it's a good price. Question I have what is the good price.
Let's just make it for easy math. Say silver is $20 an oz. How much over spot is the good price.
My first silver purchase was for some Maples that were $5 over spot was that a good purchase?
Also can't you just clean the milking spots off the coin?

Total newb question but, what's the difference? An ounce of silver is an ounce of silver, right? Is it just looks? I mean in a SHTF situation, is someone going to say, "Nope! I won't take your oz of silver because it's ugly? So many questions about why an Eagle is more than most other coins? I'd just like to add that Milk Spotting on Silver coin bullion shouldn't be considered a guarantee of the coin being genuine Silver. I bought something unrelated (plastics) from China a few years ago and the seller threw in a FAKE Panda silver coin as a 'thank you'. The coin looked so good that we actually put it in a store display for a few years and when people asked about it we showed how strongly it was attracted to a magnet, thus proving it was undoubtedly a fake made from a steel blank. Yet it developed Milk Spots and even a nice yellowish tarnish on the surface after about 5 years. I've seen a few folks suggest that Milk Spots are a means of identifying genuine silver coins but I would now disagree. I'm guessing the steel fake was simply coated in a thick layer or Silver. But I'll never trust a coin or bar just because of Milk Spotting. Now they're exporting fake 1oz Britannias, 1oz Kangaroos and 1oz US Silver Eagles etc for just a few dollars each via Alibaba, directly from China... with the words "non magnetic" on the sales pages. It's a serious concern and people should perhaps show a lot more caution today.

  • @Crimin4L

@2:09 I am pretty sure you are wrong on that.
The coin is 1 troy ounce TOTAL, and is 99.90% (.999) or 99.99% (.9999) silver, meaning you are losing .1% (.999) or .01% (.9999) of silver on each troy ounce.
If you have 1,000 troy ounces of .999 fine silver, you have a total of 1 troy ounce of impurities spread across all 1000 ounces (so only 999 troy ounces of 100% pure silver).
Likewise, if you have 10,000 troy ounces of .9999 fine silver, you will also have a total of 1 troy ounce of impurities spread across all 10000 ounces (so only 9,999 troy ounces of 100% pure silver).
Although you are right (or at lease when dealing with low weight); it wont really matter much when/if you liquidate them.

Just bought my first 5 oz of silver maples. I had to get random years under 2014. All they had available :(

Krugerrands have been my favorite, with Britannia's at second. I'm glad you didn't just tow the line on American silver eagles, people have to get joking if they think they can get ahead by buying Silver Eagles at these premiums, you're throwing your money way

Ima Libertad man. I know they're pricey but they're my "go to"... absolutely love Libertads. I actually agree with you and really like your top 5 list, minus the Kangaroos. They're incredibly ugly.

I like your picks ~ I do believe that I will pick up a few of the new edition Britanias when they make an appearance---if the Monarchy is even still standing by then! lol! World Governing entities are being shaken like rag toys by the dogs of Ultimate Change. A couple of picks in other National coins were the beautiful Leopards and Elephants of Somalia. I learned that they are actually minted in Germany, because of how unstable that country is ~ but the Silver is absolutely gorgeous. Also, I sometimes just get a collector's craving for the artwork itself, even when mass produced. I think Somalia's mintage is fairly low, however, so they might be worth a bit more in years to come.

I always go for Krugerrands when I can. Seems like they are always the less expensive of all the government minted coins/rounds. Otherwise I’ll take a Buffalo just for the silver content.

Libertads, man! They come from the number one producer of silver in the world and it is a neighbor of the US.

Whatever is on sale. Stacking those sale coins because the premium is so high on rounds. For the 50 to 70 cents price difference, I'll take the government mints. For weight, it's time to start looking at 10+ oz bars.
My choice atm, again if they're on sale...
Brits #1 by far, so far I feel it's been the best bang for the buck.
then Maples, but the sale price just crept up above the others in this lot, so I Imagine I'll be moving this down the list in the near future.
Phils and Roos would be next on followed by Krugs if it's all that's on sale.
So far, it's been easy to find Brits and Maples I've just completed a tube each, and it feels like they're trying to dump the Brits to make room for the type 2.
Occasionally I'll get an ASE or two to top off for free shipping because I've got OCD and an incomplete tube. It's not smart, but it's for my mental health.
