    Ive had to do lots of that over the years. Not so much fittings but pipe. What I found works great if you throw your beveller on the pipe and put the knuckle off a crawler torch you can do the same sort of thing. And In alberta we call your grinding rock a cone stone.Its amazing how we all use the same tools but call them different names lol Keep doing what your doing its awesome

      Thank you. I could have tacked a piece of pipe on it and use the beveling machine but it’s just so fast to do with a torch

    Another tip this man has shared with the "new" people that is absolutely spot on. We use to have to do this in the big fab shops here in Houston back in the day because it was cheaper to do this than pay for it to be counter bored by the suppliers,
    About the only time this wasn't allowed was when we working on nuclear piping, stupid, but they were way to particular, IMHO.
    Yep, dirty tip sucks
    Good job again.

    What might be cooler than the torchmanship itself is the understanding of the infrastructure that makes Modernity as good as we've got it today.

      @@TaylorWelding I think he said indoor plumbing is awesome.
      Torchmanship is UNDERRATED, I appreciate seeing real professionals make clean cuts-in the field. It's all different out there most of the time-and that's what makes it a challenge and a rewarding one if you can do it.

      I need to get a cutting torch and a welder. Haven't done any welding since college. Took a couple classes, and really liked it. I have all my stuff from the classes still, so I just need the expensive stuff now. :-)

    Great video man new subscriber was wondering if you could do a video about beading with 6010. Sometimes I’ll shove it in and all the fire will be on the inside but there is no keyhole must be to cold idk but would love to hear how you do it and what your watching for

      I sure will Alexander. I was going to do a voice over if I can learn how to film welding. I’m trying to figure out a camera set up that will make a good recording. Because it’s hard to explain without looking at it

    Chris -- Can you give a tutorial on how your roll out wheel is put together on one of your tool demo's that you do? I am interested to know if there is a bearing in that pipe that allows it to spin so freely or if its just pipe inside of pipe. I would greatly appreciate it.

    Really good content, I may never need to know how to do this. FYI that 5 mm rod I'm guessing was an 8010, and how hot did you burn that?

    • @TaylorWelding
      @TaylorWelding  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it was an 8010. 5 mm burn better than the regular 3/16 for some reason. They are $.75 apiece. Crazy expensive now
      I don’t know how hot it was… as hot as I can stand it.

  • @OnRappel
    @OnRappel 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So, running 8010 on your hotpass, looks like you are dragging the rod as opposed to whip and pause. I'm in welding school now and we are always taught to whip and pause hotpass with 6010. We only ever drag a cellulose rod on the root. Can you explain when and why you're doing what you're doing?

    • @TaylorWelding
      @TaylorWelding  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I’ll try to make you video. I have a hard time filming my weld. Get a 5/32 turn it up and just hold it in there one time and see what happens. Takes a little practice

  • @BlueCollarGecko

    Hey Chris, I have been wanting to get into welding for a long time. I work a full time job now, so I do not have the free time nor the money to go to welding school. I was hoping to get started learning on my own doing DIY/side projects. I've been watching lots of youtube videos to see techniques, but I learn best in the real world working with my hands (I'm skilled in other trades including carpentry, construction and engine mechanics). So I was wondering what would be the best welding setup to start out with? Should I focus on 1 single type of welding first, then buy a new machine later on? And if so, which type would be best? I was considering stick welding first. Or would it be better to go with a machine that can do all 3 types of welding like the Lincoln 140 Amp LE31MP? Thanks for any help and for the great content here and on Financial Fitness.

    • @TaylorWelding
      @TaylorWelding  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Stick and tig is where the money is . if your just doing structural stuff a wire gun is really handy. I’m not familiar with a Lincoln 140. Just make sure it’s not too small You needed as hot as you can get it.

      I have done that. It’s just faster for me to do it that way. I did that in about six minutes. I probably could’ve done it faster if I didn’t have to video. But you’re right it does work
