I rely on TH-cam 'how-to' videos for a lot of things and I have to say... this is the most well-done video out of any that I have ever watched. Bravo and thank you!
The only downside is that if someone uses the manual disconnect and opens the door manually, you'll not get any notification because the opener trolley won't move, whereas if the sensor were on the door itself, you'd be notified any time the door was opened, whether with the opener, or manually.
Thank you for the instructions! I just ordered mine! Great video. My wife and I kept forgetting if we had close the garage door or not. This will give us piece of mind!
Except for the important ones like... What home integration software (Google Home, Home Assistant, android auto, etc.) can I use this with and what functionality will I have acces to.
Thank you for the video. For what it's worth - I received Version 3.0 10/12/20 which has slightly modified contents and instructions. You no longer need to assemble the module described 1:58 to 3:01. It's already assembled. The power cable is now an integral USB cord that plugs into a usb power adapter (included). And the connector for the opener powerhead is already mounted. I like your spade/crimp connectors...that would have made the job a lot easier. After replacing my broken gogogate2 with this thing, I'm SO MUCH happier!
Thanks for the video. I placed mine on the side of garage door. I could not use the included door switch due to tight clearance. So I used a slim neo magnetic coin size magnet mounted on the garage door.
Excellent video, thanks for taking the time to make it. I watched your video prior to purchasing this device to get a feel for the amount of effort that would be required to setup/install the device and again after making the purchase. The install was straight away as you discuss/show. All told it took me less than 30 minutes to install the device and another 10-15 for the cosmetic portion of the install. Thanks for the video and the detailed explanation regarding the entire process. Great Job!!
Thanks for the helpful explanation. I just bought this system and waiting for it to arrive. I have a wall mount opener and so I will need to find a creative way to align the door sensors
Outstanding effort sir !!! I was wavering on whether to purchase this item to solve my garage door issues... but after watching your video, I'm buying it, no question !! Thank you
Excellent step-by-step instructions. Couldn't have installed this without this video. One question though...where would you suggest I install my sensors if my chain is on top? Thanks in advance
I noticed that when you did your initial test at 4:45, you brought the sensors together and the notification showed "garage door was closed." With the sensors arranged in your system, when the sensors come together (i.e. close proximity,) the garage door is actually open. How did you reverse the notification to show that the door was indeed open? N.B. Sorry, my mistake. I just realised, the sensors were at the door end, not the motor end. Therefore, there would be no need to reverse the notification!
Great Job bud, very informative and easy to understand. The device is not exactly what I'm looking for but that doesn't take away from the great job you did.
Question : Does it know if it is open to not do anything if you say to google to open the garage door rather than closing it? That's my problem with current installation with different Smart Life device. Or if you know how to achieve that, then it would be helpful. Thanks.
Hi, nice video, I'm not live in the US and I very curious on how was your previous smart installation with the relay, I think it would help me a lot. Thanks
This setup is much better than the relay setup before as this Meross is truly designed for garage doors with real time notification of door opening and closing and remote control anywhere in the world. Also it warns you if you left the door open to long.
@@dial2fast hi thanks for this vid. I have one question, and Id be very helpful if You can aswer. Is it possible to use this unit without connecting it to the garage door unit (motor) ? Maybe using the remote control, somehow pair it? And then just plug it? Thanks in advance.
@@ivanbordon7153 I think I read a review by someone who said that if you have the type of opener that doesn't open when you short the two contacts together, that you have to contact them and they'll send you a "device" that will enable the Meross to trigger your garage door opener. He had such an opener and contacted them, and the "device" they sent was basically a generic garage door opener with a couple of wires sticking out the side that they had soldered to the contacts for the original button on the remote. You connect the opener wires from the Meross to the wires they bodged onto the remote, and the Meross makes the remote think its button has been pressed. Then you program the "device" (remote) to your door, and voila! the Meross opens and closes your door. The only problem with this approach is that many openers have a limit on how many remotes you can program to them, so you have to have at least one more remote slot open to add this "device".
Awesome video guy! Quick question, if I short the wall button connections like you did and the controller does not actuate, would it be safe to assume I do not have a dry contact and I'd need to also purchase another part with my device to put in series such as a relay or something? Thanks for the great video guy!
Can you ask Google Assistant or Alexa if the garage is opened or closed and what happens if you ask 1 of them to close the garage if already closed? Great job on video!
very nice video! kudos to you sir! i just have a question, is there a risk of being electricuted when connecting your control wires to the garage door opener? im a bit scared lol. i have an older genie i think
Nice video. Unfortunately, mine came from Amazon in 1 day, but required an accessory from Meross that will take at least a week to get to my house. The thing I'm REALLY worried about is now some Chinese company has my exact address - AND the capability of opening my garage.
@dial2fast have you tried to link with IFTT Google Ass2or Amazon Alexa by chance. And is there an option to auto close after open for a certain amount of time... 10 15 minutes whatever. Otherwise great video!
You can buy different style of pvc trims at Home Depot or Lowes. You will need to cut the pieces to the size you need. You can also use MDF wood if you want.
Hi, I've bought this after seen your video. But my garage door has only a wall button with two keys: Up and Down. No remote control existing. So there are three wires: common, up, down. How could I connect the Meross MSG100 with only two wires? Thank you so much
@@Meggie218 did you try shorting with the provided wire or plyers? if I had to guess the two wires will connect to the up and down sounds like the common wire is just power wire the up and down wire are the grounds that help break the connection
The big benefit is you can monitor whether your garage door is left open or not. And say you are travelling out of town, and not sure if your garage is open or close. This system will let you verify, and be able to close it even when you are in a different country. Can't do any of this with a regular garage opener.
The main benefit for me other than cellphone remote control is I can use voice control to open and close it from Google home or Google assistant on the phone, without touch anything
Yeah, this is much better. What if you're someone like my wife that likes to leave her garage door opener in the car and someone so happens to break in. They could have access to at least your garage, or worse. This can prevent that, which is why I'm getting mine.

Very smart of you to install the magnetic door sensor on the track instead of the door itself. Clean and nice looking installation. Thanks!
