That Tremor King Ranch is a very good looking truck. Nice to see a winch is now available, but $3k is a lot of coin.
Not really overpriced when you think about what you’re getting, it’s a $2200 winch with the other $800 covering mounts and the bumper.
90% of people will play with their winch once or twice in their yard then never think about it again. Just like the mall crawler jeeps.
@@F450FTW back in my rock crawling days, there were 4 times I needed a winch! Certainly wish I had one back then! But I dont forsee folks taking their tremors through the gnar gnar! I wouldn't! I would just buy a beater crawler so I can go beat on it!

I ordered a new '22 Tremor a few weeks ago. Today I called to have the winch added. I currently have a '18 PW, but the gas engine and rear springs just don't do it for me when I'm towing my boat 1,000 miles/mo (about 6500 lbs loaded). I think the PW is a bit better off-road, but I tow more than I off-road, and the Tremor is the ONLY truck that does a great job at both.
Big fan. I like how ford allows you to get the tremor/winch package on basically any trim, but ram limits you. Also fords looks better, but that's subjective.

Rams Power Wagon was designed from the ground up to be offroad specific, and not used to tow or fuel mileage, strictly offroad, Ford and Gm dont make a truck specifically designed for offroading, 3/4 tons of course, they all have 1/2 tons and they all make this offroad towing ready, but true offroaders want disconnecting sway bar front and rear FULL locking diffs, and boy do full front and rear locking make a difference, those limited slip diffs are bogus, they only work when your starting to spin out, not trying to seem bogus, but everyone has opinions
Power wagon can be had on any level and power wagon gives you all the capabilities of a off road truck. But eventually ford will catch up and install disconnecting sway bars. Took them long enough to offer a winch.

no axle disconnects and no true locking front diff, they still have some work to do! But this will be pushing ram to come out with a powa wagon diesel and for that I'm glad ford did this. Very cool truck.
I still don't think it will happen. It would really limit articulation due to oil pan. Intercooler ground clearance on front approach sucks too.

Not really. TBH, there's very little profit for the dealers in new vehicles. They only make decent profit on used.
@Vegans Suck there is very little money in selling a new car. Literally low single digit margins. Used cars are in the teens for margins but service is 40%-45% margins.
That's how the car business works today. 20 years ago, it was the exact opposite.

Imagine buying a reg cab 4wd 250/350 and throwing on tremor springs bumper rear blocks and the 35's it would go anywhere and be a gladiator killer, actually I might buy a 2020 just to make my own 2 door tremor... front lsd is the only part that would really be a pain
Living in ND the 7.3 version of this truck maybe the best option for me. This last year getting stuck in deep snow in the middle of the street and having my Diesel gel up on me when it was 40 below suck ass! A winch and extra clearance and the less temperature sensitive gas would have solved most of the issues I had.
I had one put in my 2024 F-350 Limited. I pick it up Monday. They’re still installing the winch and a couple of other things. 7.5 months from initial order to delivery.

I really like that winch option and the tire size and clearance and you still get way more capability in an off road heavy duty truck. Perfect for up North here in Canada or any construction site. Wish they included four wheel steering and ride control.

Why not put the wireless module on the inside like most other winches? The only thing superior about this over the power wagon is the diesel option.

@@bschell1969 there's definitely better budget options for a winch, Orcish has been getting excellent reviews in the off-road community for a long time now, still, the new harbor freight winches that came out last year are pretty good, even if they are significantly more expensive than the old ones.

ghost jesus that’s good to hear, haven’t tried one. I use them for work not off-roading so they see more use than the average winch. I’m sure they’re good enough to use once in a blue moon.

I hope you are gonna be doing reviews on the 7.3L Tremor. Diesel trucks are such a waste of $$ for the average buyer.
Ford needs to offer the Tremor & winch on a 1 ton dually for people who boondock out in the bush with their truck campers.
I wish you could get the chrome 18' wheels because the black doesn't go with Platinum or King Ranch at all.

I'm just wondering if he just unspooled what he used. I had a friend that owned a towing co. He told me any new winch you should pull out all the line then pull it back with weight hooked to it so you got a tight wrap with your line other wise if you pull the line would sink down in the loose spool causing problems don't know if it's true but sounds right
I’d definitely pay 3000 for a winch installed at the factory ready to go. I like they give you a wireless remote. I have that remote on my raptor.
Not even 3k after rebates and incentives, more like $2600 which we have to remember there is brackets and wiring that has to be done as well as purchase the winch, I would pay the extra 1k for factory install of a proven 12k winch.

I’ll stick with my PW. Ford is testing the waters but needs a true front locker and sway bar disconnect. I’ll give it to them on the wireless portion of the winch.
PW can't compete with this Ford Tremor. The Tremor is the do all truck!

Front locker is much better than a helical differential... but lockers can only be used in specific situations, so the helical differential gives better traction in most situations.
Now, a locking helical differential would be best of both worlds.
Better then nothing
SMiller5488 arguably better than a locker, as it’s giving extra traction regardless of situation. A locker does better when engaged, but you’re very limited in those situations.
Personally, I’d like to see a helical differential with a clutch pack on the axle shaft output. Either energized hydraulically, pneumatically, electromagnetically, or through a torque actuated carrier misalignment mechanism that proportionally engages the clutch based off a two piece carrier that misaligns depending on the torque places on the ring gear.
The clutch lockup force will benefit from the proportional helical torque lockup effect (torque bias ratio.) so a tbr of 3:1 and clutch pack of 300 ft lbs would transfer 900 ft lbs to the wheel with least traction.
This is actually how the STi center differential works. It’s a helical differential with an electromagnetic clutch pack.
A locker can transfer torque equal to the driven wheels axle shaft to the wheel with the least traction. ie lift a wheel and that wheel get zero torque over what it takes to spin the wheel and the wheel on the ground will receive all the rest of the torque... which is limited to drivetrain strength and traction.

So I waited till the very end of the 2020 order season on the 350 Tremor, and still no option for the winch. Really disappointed in ford about this. Have you guys heard anything as to why the winch wasn't released.

Can't wait to see the off road comparison between a power wagon and the tremor. I know power wagon will still beat it but by how much? And the fact the tremor can out tow the power wagon might make it that better all around truck.

I asked a dealer about this option and they said you can’t have this with the active radar cruise control. Is this what you learned, or is is available with all trims and packages?
Paid 3,400 from a local dealer and the directions refer one to WSM (ie Ford dealership insider info) and the directions are written from a typical engineer (ie IDIOT that’s never turned a wrench). The cruise control module wiring harness adapter from the truck gets smashed when trying to remount it over the new winch bracket because it’s not designed for such a plug depth. Awesome FORD. My Jeep jl winch install was a cake walk compared to the geniuses at good ole Ford. And Ford tough…lol I fart and stuff scratches and chips. That’s great to know when one pays over $80k.
Where does the front license plate go though?
Probably have to have a hinged license plate frame that flips up or down, on the PowerWagon it mounts right below it.

Any information from ford about whether this will work with trucks with the adaptive cruise control. The radar box would sit just to the right of the winch controller plug. Seems like there might be enough room in there.
Rear spring pack looks interesting. I would like to see a closer look at that.

Interesting option and if it came in a long bed I might think about it, as is I will probably get a nice heavy steel bumper and brush guard and a 16.5 ti and it looks like I can stay close to that 3k price tag.
How easy is it to disconnect the swaybar on a superduty? The winch is cool but so is articulation.

Do we know the towing numbers for an F250/350 with a Tremor package? I'm assuming a bit less than a standard F250/350. Im considering trading in my Raptor for a Tremor for the mere fact that I may need to start pulling a toy hauler soon.
With the 7.3L its 15,000 conventional and 17,500 Gooseneck I believe. Of course, the payload rating based on the trim you get may reduce that.

Even warn recommends to multiply the GVWR of the vehicle to get an appropriate winch pulling power, (GVWR x 1.5 = recommended winch capacity). So why the hell is a 12k winch on a truck with a 10k GVWR when the recommendation would call for a 15k winch.
use a snatch block and get 24k of pulling power
Purely because of the integration aspect and possible dealer warranty, I'd get the winch option.
Cool stuff! Would have loved to have had the winch option back in the days I was buying and driving trucks. I would take the tremor over the power wagon everyday a week.

I'd imagine you could. I think it really boils down to how good a relationship you have with the Dealership.
If I wasn't going to go for the 6.7L Power Stroke Tremor, I'd take a F150 Raptor over the 7.3L gas Tremor if towing heavy loads isn't essential. Probably close in price as well. The Hight Output 3.5L EcoBoost has better numbers vs the 7.3L. I'm willing to bet the Raptor is better off road as well.

Nice winch integration (but pricey). Still missing the dual lockers and disconnecting swaybar though- the articulation portion in the video clearly demonstrated that. Dont think the Tremor ups the game or is as good of a value - adding front locker and sway disconnect will be way more than 995. Plus the power wagon gets a way better interior.

I agree on the interior. I wish I could wait till 2021 to get one when the new interior drops. Because the Tremor is an added package across multiple trucks it makes the disconnect sway bar and stuff tougher. If the Tremor was it's own thing like PW that might be easier. That said, disconnecting swaybar would be nice.

I'm actually appreciative of the wait. First, the new F-series kinks gets ironed out. And as you see, they're still adding to the Tremor package (said winch). Lastly, TFL keeps playing with it and adding to their F-250 and we get to see what's good and bad (next week).

Christian Mercado He stated plain and clear that you only can get this with the Tremor package. So any model you can get the Tremor package on, you can get this winch.
After owning a 2002,2011,2013,2016,2018 and a 5 month old 2019 King Ranch Ultimate dually that almost killed me when it caught fire inside the cab on driver side almost trapping me inside during an accident , I'm done with FORD . Got hit on passenger side and it caught fire on driver side. Use caution when traveling with your children especially if strapped in to baby carrier or car seats. Wish I could post pics here if I knew how to

T then you have to install it by removing the front end. Plus if you put it in and do something wrong who pays for the something that brakes? You do. If they do it and something goes wrong they pay to fix it
Wish Ford would have put 20 inch wheels on the truck. 18 inch wheels are kind of small for truck that large.
No, then they couldn't have done tires with the larger sidewalls which in an offroad truck I want. I want to be able to air down and still have sidewall. The 18" with those tires is perfect.
