  • I finally had my first experience scalloping and it was pretty easy! Just had to find the right spot. Then I topped it off with sight casting redfish in shin deep water! #lastcastadventures #redfish #scallops

That flyrod setup you have is serious. I should have looked that thing over down at Dry Tortugas when you were bonefishing. You mine sharing the specs?

@@PJP320 not at all! Temple Fork Outfitters (TFO) Pro II for the rod, I think they make a Pro III now but pretty much the same rod. The line is scientific angler, I don't remember the specific one I have just the brand. And the reel is a TFO NTR reel. Everything is in the 7-8 weight size, capable of handling most of the averaged size fish I encounter. Gonna cost a few hundred bucks, you can always get different line too, but TFO has a lifetime warranty so if you break a piece of the rod, you can pay to get that section replaced. I would say it's an affordable set up, but Orvis, TFO, and Bass pro all carry start up combos. Just depends on how much you wanna invest

Got it. Don't have the salt water flyrod, only ever fished for trout and smallmouth on 5-6 weight rods. Just looking to get the saltwater setup now that I have time to make it to the salt in retirement. Got my channel up and going now. Should have some teal slaying coming up. Season opens here in TX Sep 14.
