- USC announced that the valedictorian will not be allowed to deliver the 2024 commencement speech during graduation, citing security concerns, Robert Kovacik reports for the NBC4 News on April 15, 2024.
There's a time and place for her political speech. Graduation day is not it.
Why didn't the news outlet state the social media posts by the Valedictorian?
Probably because she spoke out against genocide.

look her up. Her posts were very inflammatory/disturbing
that only happens if you are white. because she is BIPOC she gets a pass on that
What were her social media comments that prompted this? Such inadequate reporting.
Right? You'll never see a graduating student doing commencement. It's usually Jim Carrey or the guy who played Urkel
shes got a post calling for the destruction of Israel she uses the word abolition but we all know what would happen to the people living there
Just take a flying guess. the possibility is that she is an anti semitic hater.....that is why the details will not be mentioned. If it was a white man, the details would be right there in capitals...
She finished USC without learning tolerance. I guess that is the failure of DEI.
Maybe they are super concerned that the speech will incite violence. I mean what was the social postings that caused this? Celebrate your graduation, keep your inflammatory politics. Just because you are free to speak, doesn't mean there are not consequences to your words.
NBC didn't say it, but we all have a good idea of what she most likely said on social media 😉

She must be a very bright student to earn the position of valedictorian at a top school like that. The word "valedictorian" means "one who says farewell." Her job is to give the farewell speech on behalf of the whole class, not just of her own ethnic group.
When I was graduating from college, I held the top honors but the faculty were uncomfortable with me. Maybe because I am Italian American and they couldn't believe I could do so well. The school should allow her and the two salutatorians to video their talks, and play them on a screen during the ceremony. Then the talks could be vetted by the authorities.
And the three top students could hide in a secure location to avoid becoming victims of violence from outraged parents who cannot bring themselves to believe that an Arab girl could do better in school that their own darlings..
It's kind of known that international and/or ethnic students do very well at that school while the USA students are partying..So it's not surprise to anyone that a minority is valedictorian.

The university is right. no one is entitled to speak at a graduation ceremony. But when the long standing practice is the have the valedictorian speak, a sudden change in policy citing social media posts that were "anti-semitic" raises questions. Were they anti-semitic? Was this investigated based on a complaint? Who made the complaint? Did the valedictorian have an opportunity to defend herself? Or has due process given way under this new McCarthyism along with freedom of speech?
